Hello everyone. Yesterday i was called up by a reporter at a swedish paper.
she interviewed me with penspinning as subject. She also called Ceedge afterwards, the whole thing is supposed to be done by friday. I'll send the whole story translated here, a while after.

    [EDIT] Translation comes here.

It Isn't about showing of. It's an addiction. If you see a fourty year old smoker, standing somewhere and inhalate, he/she don't do it because he/she wants to be cool. He/she does it because he/she just have to! It's just the same with penspinning, says the sixteen year old Tim from Norrköping. Limelight made contact with two persons who just love to spin pens.

    - The first day i started at the electrician program ( I am studying to be an electrician )
this year, everyone stood there with their mouths open when i spun my pen. Now, everyone in my class spins, the pens are flying everywhere.

    - That is how Tim "FireFaith" Miskulin describes his situation as a penspinner.

Swespin is a community for swedish penspinners, there they can talk to people with the same interest, and also get some hints and tips from other persons. The 19 year old Måns Fruerlund, in the penspinning world called "Ceedgee", made this site in april 2006.

    - Well, i created the site because there were no sites out there where we could exchange experiences and talk to eachother without speaking english. Måns explains.

Right now there is 326 members at swespin, out of them 40-50 active spinners who he talks to very much. He has even met some of them in real life.

Someone who often visit swepin is Tim. He was one of the first persons who registered.
There he like to discuss different tricks and pens, or updates himself with gatherings that is being held all around in sweden. At a gathering the spinners spend time together in real life and trade pens and talks to eachother. They also do films that they after the gathering spread upon the net.

    - It's a very wonderful feeling to meet people with the same interest, Tim says,
who have been to three gatherings yet. He also tell us that at the gatherings you can meet your penspinning idols, who you otherwise just see at youtube or at the forum.

To see videoclips at the net - That was the way they both got caught up with penspinning. Tim says:

    - I saw an old video with Måns in it and i got completely stunned, i first thaught it was fake. Later a guy told me how to do the four fundamental tricks ( Rob ) - After learning each trick i were in ecstacy. Now i've been spinning for about two years.

A completely normal pen can be hard to do tricks with, very often you take two pens and build them together to some sort of superpen, wich makes it a lot more easy to spin. All the time people make new ways to "mod", modifiate,a pen. Måns favorite pen looks just like an ordinary ballponit pen, but is a little more oblong.

Penspinning isn't the ecual of a pen and too much sparetime. - You can learn a lot about gatherings and penmodifications, discuss forums and much more! You can actually compete in penspinning. Måns told us that this year, were held a World tournament in penspinning, where swespin had ten spinners involved. But the swedish spinners didn't stand that long in the international competition.

-There are just a few spinners in sweden if you compare with japan or south korea, who have over 250 000 members at their forum. We swedes are few, but we also keep high cuality.

You can also do different "combos", in a combo you film your spinning and/or compete by send your clips in and put up a poll. ( sory about this, but i think the supporter got this wrong )
But if you think you can earn money by compete you are wrong. Penspinning don't exactly make you rich.

    - You do it because it's fun, not to earn money, Måns says.

Tim told us that he competed in a three person battle about for about a year ago.(Me, Eriror and Sicxer ) he came second. He also challenged a boy at a gathering ( wrong again supporter, i recently battled him at swespins forum, I've met him at gatherings! The boy is Ålan )

    - That time he got owned.

At the homesite there are place called "The Invention Corner". There you can post videoclips of yourself doing tricks that you wonder if you have came up with yourself.

    - Yet so far isn't the art of penspinning complete, it developes the whole time with the spinners being better and better. I have not created an own trick yet. Everytime i wonder if i've came up with something new, someone have already invent the trick. Måns tells us.

Despite swespin is swedish, Måns and Tim don't have any problems with getting in contact with people from other countries.

    - I've got penspinning friends who i talk to at msn, among them people from Holland and USA. We speak a lot about penspinning, bot also about normal life, like how's the school? and how it is between the girlfriend and him. Tim says.

When i asked Måns how a typical swedish penspinner looked, he didn't have any good answers

    - At the forums there are many differend ages, from twelve to twentyfive years old, there are both girls and boys at the forums, but the boys are the majority. Most people who spin pens have a interest to talk a lot with people at the computer, and also to do small partie tricks. It's great fun to see peoples reactions when you spin. Often they get very surprised but also curious. I think that it often is that way - Things wich is unusual are interesting.

Hm, Don't know really, My first interview was last year, Swe_Empa's cousin works at a paper here in "Norrköping". That time it was easy to spread penspinning. This time, a journalist registered at swespin and wrote a post that said that they were making a article on penspinning in their paper right now and they said they wanted some of us to conteact them to be interviewed. so yeah, Me and Ceedge contacted them.
