im sorry if this question as already answered by someone else but i'll ask it anyways..are we completely controlling the pen? or the pen moves by itself using the initial push we give? i'm not talking bout the pen moving on it's own.we all now its a non living thing. what i'm asking is it's behavior especially when we are chaining combos. the way it positions itself after trick. are we in total control of it or are we just following the flow of the pen?

im sorry if you think that this is a weird question...just got curious..huh.gif

There's already a topic about this, i think it's called "Who has more control" or something like that.

And we got more control over the pen, it's not a question of following the pen's "flow" it's more like a natural behavior of objects to keep the momentum(or if you wanna call it, nature laws). If you analise by that logic of yours, then all the objects dominates us, if you throw a ball up, it'll fall, even though you controlled the throw.

actually its not the same question...

he's asking in a combo, are you guided by the pen or are you guiding the pen.

eh, i think we're guiding the pen, cause after a trick, we can reposition it ourselves after some practice
after a thumbaround, most of then pen would normally land outside of the hand area, allowing us to do a ta rev...but we can reposition it ourselves so that we aren't limited to doing a ta rev, and that we can do another thumbaround after teh first thumbaround---even though the normal landing positioning of the thumbaround prevents us from doing so

I think that throughout the combo, the spinner has majority of the control but there are times where we don't. Say if you were doing a shadow, or any other trick that doesn't travel in a slot, with a pen with wierd weight distribution, the pen may not spin the way you want it to. The pen doesn't have the control but neither do you.

i think control comes with training so the hand guides the pen.

Depends on how you make your combos. If you are good at technical aspects of penspinning and plan out the combo before you do it, you will obviously have to maintain full control of the pen and guide it through all the tricks that you have planned. If you on the other hand freestyle, it's probably easy that the pen ends up in a different position than you had hoped, and so you will have to do whatever trick works from there.

YOu will tend tos ee that more advanced spinners let the pen take control, this makes combos look smoother, faster, nicer etc. just making a path for the pen to follow =]
The better the spinner is, the less controling he/she (event hough we all know girl spinners are inferior... j/k) of the pen, you're fingers should followthe pen =] or else combos and tricks look choppy and you cans ee the fingers move way to much trying to force the pen in directions it wouldn't naturally go.

true...but u can do that only after you learn how to guide it before the pen can take control of you..

At least the provide the illusion, of the pen's control using skills such as finger dependency and presentation =]

    Well,

U are actually controlling the pen.because, its just like at a train Depot.

The trains are pushed by the initial engine start

but the trains move to their parking places thru bariers

    Similiarly

when we push,we must position our fingers and hands to suit the pen movement and also to make it flow in one movement

i tihnk its gravity that is determining where the pen lands

Gravity + Force against pen +Finger positioning

We can control it in some tricks but we let natural stuff take over when doing other tricks

Agreed. but i think it's equal... take aerial for example...no one is really having control over it. all we need to do is estimate where the pen is going to land.

so about you question....i think it depends on the trick you are going to do.

but some tricks u need like timing for example multiple bust

so i think it is not control
