This is an eyecatching combo because of the quick changes in direction

    but I cant do it!

I can do Neosonic and Fl TA...but I can't make them work together dry.gif

How is the pen landing in the T1 slot after the NeoSonic? Is it in the position to do a FL TA Rev?

I catch it with the tip of my thumb and my fingers straight out...i just can't "throw" it around

Hmm, I'm having trouble with this too. It seems that when I do Neosonic, the pen's COB is above my thumbflap, thus making it harder to do the FL TA.
So I'll have to figure out a way to control where the pen lands, either by moving my thumbflap or changing the way I do Neosonic.

    BAH!

When I do NeoSonic 23 > FL TA Rev, the COP of the pen is above the Thumb. I catch the pen near the tip with my Thumb, on the knuckle or somewhere on the distal phalanx. Doing it vertically, with my hand in fron of me, the pen almost falls over the Thumb by itself. I move the Thumb with a small amount of motion forward to give the pen just enough energy to continue spinning and direct the motion around the Thumb.

Edit: I tried doing the FL TA Rev from the Thumbflap: similar thing. A small amount of Thumb motion is needed. This time, I tried to move both forward and slightly horizontal. This directs the pen into a more horizontal motion like the default TA Rev.

Doing neosonic 23-T1 > fl TA rev is hard, but if you do a thumbflap before fl TA rev is much easy....... tongue.gif

I say it all practice i guess. A way you could practice this is with a longer pen if u really wanted to. Either way using a longer pen will just help you get the feel of how it should work. Once you have this "feeling" try it with the pen you usually spin with. Hell, if it does work the first time, try try again happy.gif . Persistence pays off

I can do this, not that smoothly though. Isn't a proper neosonic meant to be caught just lying in the thumbflap. I thought it was so I practiced the trick like that and so it isn't that hard for me. With this minicombo you don't use any fingers after the neosonic, so it's neosonic 23-tf>fl ta tf-t1.

If you don't know what the fl ta is meant to look like, look at Kam's vid on pentrix (the newer one). That is the correct fl ta for this trick.

so once it hits your thumbflap (this is the part that you really have to practice) you do the push to try to get the pen to go round the thumb.

Yep thats the same method I use.
you dont have to use any thumb motion at all. You know the position your thumb is in when your relaxed? keep it in that position. Stiffen up a little if you have to!

this is quite an interesting way to finish a combo. fratleym has done it on serveral occasions.

is this neosonic 23-TF > FL TA?

since it would be quite hard to use the tip of your fingers to do it.

anyway, i suggest practicing trying to control where the neosonic lands first. laugh.gif

    good luck.

Unfortunately, we're talking about Fingerless ThumbAround Normal. wink.gif I think the COB would have to be below the thumbflap then.

yeah i was getting confused there about whether we were talking about normal/reverse.
to do the normal i find that i have to catch the neosonic very late, to get the weight of the pen on the palm side of the TF. also i found it easier to practice this starting at 12 then, once i'd got it, start at 23 instead.
the problem, though, is that - for me at least - these tricks don't flow. i have to force the change in rotational direction which is far from beautiful in a combo. i guess that's why the FL TArev after a neosonic (or neosonic >TF charge) is more popular/common

    HaHa! I was...just...testing you. Yeah. mellow.gif

    Handy Tips ->
If you do the NeoSonic more like an Aerial, give it a little more height, you will allow the pen to rotate more. That should make landing the pen with the COP below a little easier.

the TF charge to Fl Ta REV is overused...Neosonic 23 TF (or TI)-> Fl Ta is used frequently in Cloud Traveller's combos, and I like it biggrin.gif

    HEHE...when i tried it i pulled it a few times(fine 2 times dry.gif )

um try doing the neosonic with 23 holding 3/4 of the way up(? is that correct but yah)
when i do this i catch it also 3/4 the way up(i dunno why)and then I can do a Fl TA then...maybe you could try this or somethin' cause somehow this works for me...anyway goodluck mastering it laugh.gif
