spamming continues while you guys are gone. T.T

Please make more moderators, I'm sick of coming to my computer and seeing shoutbox being spammed like crazy. Whenever I MSN a mod, there is no response, ever. There are 1+ hours where no moderators are on and UPSB is abused by noobs and spammers.
Please do something. Any members with me on this? -
Date: Sun, Sep 7 2008 23:46:53
I agree with you Nate.
There is too much going on UPSB while they are gone..... -

yeah ur rhight i do see some flaming but i dont think its a huge problem....and theres no chaos here either.. -

I agree,,, not only in the shoutbox.. i see everywhere...
i am quite frequent in the pen mod, pen reg, and pen trading forums.. and i see TONS of things that should be more controlled.
many unneccesary threads, scammer like activity, and bad posting/spamming/ off topicness.
im on everyday on these forums, and i would like to see things cleaned up and on topic.
i would love to personally help this problem if @ all possible. -

Great Zombo, appoint me mod and I will wield the BANHAMMER in your name. I will ban the noobs and restore peace once again to UPSB.
Seriously though a few more mods wouldn't hurt -

Use this thread: http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=10355 to report members so that moderators can look into it. You can't expect them to be monitoring the shoutbox 24/7.
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 02:45:36
monitoring the shoutbox is tough, if you want fast response always, always use the report feature.
for the shoutbox, you can use report feature in the thread Tialys mentions.
But yes you're quite right that the Pens section needs more moderating since its basically an one-man job (K4S) since others like me are not knowledgeable enough in pens.
The problem is that I don't see any new suitable canditates right now for moderations. My last option was basically Rorix and I hired him. I will think about possible candidates. I try to hire new mods regularly to scale with the rising population of the forum.
But please, use the report feature. -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 02:49:42
wait, nateiskewl.. are you doing this to try and promote yourself as a mod candidate?
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 02:53:46
this thread is not calling for new mods, so dont post your application here.
we are not taking new mods right. when we do and IF the selection process is public, we'll let you know.
the other thing is is it possible that ppl are spamming when they see that there are no mods present? In this case I will request all mods to hide their online status so that you can not tell if a mod is on or not. -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 03:07:07
I work every single day so I can't be monitoring the SB all the time. I do what I can.
Also, a lot of the stuff you see in SOYP and SOYI and other threads like that are a given. People want comments and often times there are questions being asked. It would be nice if people would just PM the person for these questions or search around a bit, but IMO it's the way things have been for a while. Besides, I plan on cleaning out those mammoth threads sooner or later. I have a life.
As for the spamming on regular threads, just use the Report feature. For the ShoutBox, there's no quick and easy way to report but PMing all the mods might help. You could also Report a random post made by the spammer and specify that the Report is made for a SB violation rather than a forum one. Be sure to include the evidence. -

awww ok, but yes many people spam when there arent any mods, but dont make them invisible.
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 03:39:36
those people are just retarded, considering and alot of mods are invisible anyways
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 03:41:36QUOTE (000zero0000 @ Sep 7 2008, 07:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>wait, nateiskewl.. are you doing this to try and promote yourself as a mod candidate?
If I was I would be saying..."I think I would be a great candidate because..."... -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 03:43:57
The number of moderators are fine, if there are to many, we wouldn't bow down and worship them anymore...
-

there is now, instructions here: http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=10355QUOTE (Aries @ Sep 7 2008, 11:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>awww ok, but yes many people spam when there arent any mods, but dont make them invisible.
why should they not be invinsible. if a mod is invisible and someone thinks they can spam, they'll get caught. -

just sayin that if zombo decides to get more mods, theirs a chance for you to become one, and since you brought topic up, more so.
(just wondering nate, nothing personal or such. -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 03:53:32
zombo's not gonna pick nate just cuz he started the topic
zombo we don't want the mods to be invisible cuz alot of us are friends with them or like to talk to them... it's nice to know when people are on -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 03:56:38
if ur friend with that person, most likely you have his MSN, and I'm not saying the person should stop talking/posting, only to hide online status
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 07:48:20
If shoutbox is the only problem, then why don't you get a group of normal members and give them the power to moderate the Shoutbox without telling anyone. so its like underground mod
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 13:34:57
you cant do that without telling anyone....
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 14:51:55
lol yea..but some can..The ones who want the power of being an underground mod wont tell..anyways this is not such a good idea. spamming the shoutbox is a normal thing and no one can expect the mods to look at it all the time. We dont need more mods.
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 14:53:39
no.
all mods are listed in the "moderating team", anybody can check, its not secret -

I dont mean it like that. Like just assigning the power without any title....Only "some" will "not" tell anyone though.. -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 14:56:08
thats what im saying, you CANT assign power without being listed as moderator in moderator team page

i meant you just tell them that they're assigned...thats the whole point of "underground"....I'm not saying this should happen...just my opinion -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 15:05:02
if they dont have any power, they cant do anything, what'sd the point...
-
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 15:28:07QUOTE (Zombo @ Sep 8 2008, 09:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>if they dont have any power, they cant do anything, what'sd the point...
they'll be happy enough that they've been asigned by a mod..they do'nt need publicity that they are a mod cuz theyre underground mods.. Thats the only way they can be assigned (without any title cuz then everyone else would find out)..they dont have power in front of everyone. It's like they have invisible powers that only mods and other underground mods know about.. -
Date: Mon, Sep 8 2008 15:48:17
Fake powers don't help. If they aren't put in the moderating team, they can't ban people from the shoutbox. There is no way to give a person the powers to moderate in the shoutbox without them appearing in the moderators list.
capish? -

they can't have "powers" without anyonw knowing -.-
anywho, why is everyone complaining on shoutbox? if you don't like it just coles it, and if you keep it open then you just expect spam, because it is always gonna happen. there is no need to report someone for shoutbox flame (unless of course there were some big insults...)
if oyu want to have serious discussion with someone - don't use shoutbox. use msn, or even shoutbox pm and just open private messages window -.- -

dude are you serious, do you even understand what I'm saying,
YOU CAN'T ASSIGN POWERS TO "UNDERGROUND MODS". UNDERGROUND MODS WOULD BE REGULAR MEMBERS WITH NO POWERS AT ALL TO BAN OR DELETE.
understood now? -

wouldnt tht just be a member then.....and making them invisible is not fair, becuase yes spamming is normal in the shoutbox now -

dude its not my idea

sorry. bad idea then.
Tialys have the mod power in off-topic or serious discussion doesn't he? (off-topic) -

Underground mods who can report to actual mods. They dont have to be people who ban or delete or whatever..they check the shoutbox and report to actual mods.....anyways i said i was against this idea....i never said i wanted itQUOTE (Outsmash @ Sep 8 2008, 08:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>lol yea..but some can..The ones who want the power of being an underground mod wont tell..anyways this is not such a good idea. spamming the shoutbox is a normal thing and no one can expect the mods to look at it all the time. anybody can report to mods, you don't need to be a underground mod.
if you want to report something go here, http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=10355, as stated in the first page of this thread... -

Outsmash... please drop the whole underground mod idea... you don't seem to fully understand the rules. and what you can do with reporting:
http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?act=announce&id=2 Please read the last part entitled "What to do if you see someone breaking the rules?"
It seems that stuff is starting to be cleaned up for now.... i saw Zombo modding like a BEAST last night in the pens sections. -
