For those who don't know how to make it: here you go. If you don't understand, you can ask questions in this thread.

    Ballsign tutorial from the Wiki

For those who already know how to make it, don't you just wuv the mod? <3 Anyways, I've read about people who used Dr Grip grip instead of Super Grip grip, which would mean you had Dr Grip grip over Dr Grip grip. I thought this sounded like madness, and secretly laughed at them. Then I tried it out, and it's awesome really. There's not much difference to using Super Grip grip, atleast not spin-wise. It's a little heavier. The grips don't take on the yellowish color Super Grip grips get after a while though, and the Dr Grip grip sections stay attached to the big part of Dr Grip grip easier. Now, there's a problem in that the big section of Dr. Grip grip tends to fall of now and then, but that can easily be attended to by making those pieces a little longer. NOW DISCUSS! Do you have Super Grip grips or Dr Grip grips on the Ballsign? Here is a picture of the one I spin most, I also have an all purple one, an all black and a pink/black.

ah... i don't use Dr Grip grips, but just super grip grips by themselves.

neither do i use regular ballsign caps. i use sun-star twinart caps instead. it looks better to me. laugh.gif

affects my spinning mood and all. cool.gif

I have Dr. Grip over SUPER GRIP; wanna keep it original and all.
And about how long does it take till the grips yellow out? Two weeks so far, nothing noticeable.

I think it will only start to be noticable if u put it in ur pencil case, or any other place that is reletevly dirty.

i use a blue laknok grip cuz i found it on the ground and jacked the grip. it doesn't seem much of a difference tho... and it doesn't get dirty^^

I don't like this mod. Too light, too small, too skinny, no ink.

I had made my own version with a lot more weight and an ink tube, but it was still too skinny and too small.

I can say its based on perspective, if u like it longer than have a longer grip. My advice experiment until u like the amount of grip on the side of the pen. I cut between 5cm-1cm. Welll yea... mellow.gif Good luck and have fun

During that video on how to make the Ballsign mod, when he takes out the point and puts in an insert, is that insert like metal or just paper? Where do I get an insert to put in it, or should I leave the point inside it?

  18. K4S
    Date: Wed, Sep 26 2007 06:36:07

That "point" is the inktube. It's recommended you take it out so the pen is actually balanced and also so you can use an insert. The insert is made out of paper and people usually make the insert themselves or find ones that other people have made.

Anyone know where I can get some good Ballsign inserts?

  21. Rekkuuzan
    Date: Wed, Sep 26 2007 06:47:39

The majority-- if not all of inserts online are for MXs, so it's a bit hard to find some fit for a Ballsign. Right now, I'm just using regular white paper dry.gif, and it gives a nice effect.

Making me get up and go get it. sleep.gif; Hold on.

12.5 cm long, 3 cm wide.

It sticks out a bit just above where the opening of the barrel is because I found if I made it any shorter, it just flims around inside. Of course it might be just me.

The actual barrel for where the insert can fit in (with the back plug still in) is actually 12 - 12.1 cm from what I measure.

EDIT: Forgot to mention only 10.7 cm becomes visible.

    QUESTION!

whats the wieght and size and thinkness of a ballsign compared to a bictory without grips or tips?

I'm still going to buy and make one, i just need to know! smile.gif

  25. Sfsr

Longer, heavier, thicker. If I remember correctly, that is. I don't have both pens with me right now sad.gif

@ the person who asked a question about what part of the super grip you should use: there is a section completely free of "sections" (8D), which is a few CMs long. I use that, and it works fine.

@ Patrick: I had the SG grips on for half a year at least, and had the pen loose in my bag quite a lot. If you take care of it, they might not turn yellow at all though.

From PenWish I can buy 2 Dr. Grip GRIPS for both sides of the Ballsign. I can buy 2 Sakura Ballsign pens, 1 for the body and cap, and the other for the cap.

Where do I get the Super Grip that you put on each end before you put on the Dr. Grips?

Another question, after you put the cap on both sides, do you break off the clip on the cap?

  27. K4S
    Date: Fri, Sep 28 2007 05:38:38

You can find supergrips at penwish also. And yes you break the clips off and cut the little bumps off the cap as well.

yay i just got 10 gelly rolls today biggrin.gif anyways....i was wonderin what other clear grips i could use other than super grip cuz i cant get em. i tried dr grip over dr grip but i dont like the look...

  38. Sfsr
    Date: Thu, Nov 1 2007 10:14:47

Firstly, @ yam: the SuperGrip comes in many forms, but I think it's only the regular pen that has the transparent grip you need. There are also many other Pilot pens that have a grip that is very like it and also transparent, I think one of them is called "Pilot 2020" or something. The Dr Grip grip can be from any Dr Grip pen that has a "fat" grip. Thus, no NeoDr Grip with a thin grip over a colored one. Only the old school with an all transparent grip.

Secondly, @ Radiance: how Dr Grip over Dr Grip grip looks depends a lot on how you attach the grips, take my pen in the first post as an example; it's no more ugly than a regular Ballsign. Other than Super Grip grips, there's the "Pilot 2020" (or whatever it's called) which I mentioned earlier, and some other pens that have G-2/Super Grip look transparent grips. Just keep an eye open the next time when you're in a stationary and see if you can find a pen that has a grip that looks like G-2/Super Grip grip but is transparent (since basically all retractable Pilot pens use that grip; some of them have to be transparent).

  39. Radiance

Imo you're not supposed to cut off the bumps, some people do so anyways though. I like using the smooth part of the Super Grip grip since it looks.. smoother? About 1.7 cm SG grip and 0.5-0.7 cm Dr.G grip should do the job, but since there aren't really any "official" measures it's mostly personal preference.

This is probably in the wrong thread.... but, the only mod I've ordered premade from penwish as a retractable mx, so amount of grip wasnt really a problem. And ballsign mod is easy enough to make, if you're worried, order the dr.grip grips lone from penwish (mod parts section) and do it yourself laugh.gif

I ordered a Ballsign mod from Penwish a few days ago.
Mine has around 1cm of Supergrip grip and a little less then 0.5cm of Dr.grip grip on each end.
So its basicly a ring of Dr.Grip grip which IMO doesnt help out with Infinites by too much.

Ballsign mod... The best mod :3. Its very light, so spinning with it need pretty much skills, so its good for beginners just like me tongue.gif I know that learning tricks with is harder, but it's based only in a spinner skills and the mod doesn't "help" the spinner. Gratz for you, Bonkura.

The way I do it is take about the equivalent of half of a super grip (I use all Dr. Grip grip) and push it all the way onto the cap. Then you take a small strip of Dr. Grip grip and put it over the Super Grip grip. After that you pull it off of the cap about half way or however much you want so it goes past the end of the cap.

Well I used signo gel grip grips (about 1.5 cm) and added 2 strips of about 1/2 cm each of dr grip on each side leaving 1/2 cm for tricks like infinity. I see it as making it easier cuz there is a grip there so it wont slip out and even with 1 dr grip on each side, it makes it easier for me at least. I finished it off by adding signo tips to each side to make the mod heavy...

About the backplug, If you get a skinny metal or would chopstick, take out the refill, but the chopstick in, hold the pen so the back plug is facing up, and find a hard surface and hit it down so the chopsitck rams into the backplug. It pops right out!

Super Grips in the US are name Pilot Eno, they have colored lead and bodies, clear grips. Super easy to find.

And for dr.grips, the next best choice to a jap. dr.grip, is french, then american dr.grip.

Super Grips in the US are name Pilot Eno, they have colored lead and bodies, clear grips. Super easy to find.

And for dr.grips, the next best choice to a jap. dr.grip, is french, then american dr.grip.

Thxs for the Pilot Eno notification. i never knew that.
What if you cant get ur hands on Jap. , or French Dr. Grip. Can you still use the American Dr. Grip grips? if so which one? (G-Spec, LTD, ect.)

My parents made me throw away all my pens and pen parts that I've amassed over the past few months, filling a normal sized black trashbag in the process, and if I could get back any pen, it would be my Ballsign.

On another note, since two ballsigns are used, if you remove the back plug, remove the tip from one of the inktubes, and put it in the backplug's place, using teflon or the like to secure it, leaving in the other inktube, the weight distribution, although slightly more front heavy, is extremely similiar, and you can fit in an insert.

Still pretty light, about 11 grams, and adding tips on a ballsign defeats the beauty. wink.gif
