well Ryo confirmed to me, he died 10 days ago from an unspecified illness at the age of 21.
Apparently, he was still healthy when he met him 2 months ago, so... must be something sudden.

He was loved by many people for his pleasant personality .

I find this really hard to believe, yet it seems so true..
How can he have been online the 11th, and died only 2 days later from an illness? What illness can be that bad and undiscovered so you die 2 days after you still were fine? It could be a missunderstanding, he might just have become really ill very fast and is now in a hospital, and since he is away from JEB people have started thinking he is dead... I don't know, I just hope this isn't true DD: People just don't die like that at the age of 21 DD:

It is true he did pass away. apparentely his parents did not even know he had the illness. healthy kid walked and biked. illness is not disclosed/not known.
no, he is not making a comeback under another name. apparently his parents told some close friends that include many spinners in japan, uk and europe a little after it happened; probably gave themselves a little time to mourn. -

This is the saddest thing to ever happen in pen spinning history. He was one of the most respected spinners and it was after seeing his videos that i wanted to learn to spin. It is still alittle hard to believe that he's dead because he was so important int eh pen spinning world. We need to do a Universal tribute to Bonkura. Rest In Peace -

Hey Guys,
Bonkura sent me an email on 11/09, and he died on 13/09, and he wrote a few things in the email which made my cry a bit after i re-read them again. He wrote in his last email to me, "I hope pen spinning becomes better known around the world". This is a guy who started spinning when he was 13 and NEVER stopped spinning. He said to me he would always spin for all his life.
I am sad, but on the other hand, he is up in heaven right now doing what he loves to do the most, now he can spin for his eternal life. -

Omg! I just heard about this and had to stop and wish my condolences.
I always valued creativity and bonkura is one of the few pen spinners who I truly respect for his creativity and dedication to PS. I never really knew him or talked to him personally, but I always enjoyed watching his videos.
At a time when hundreds of tricks/combos have already been invented, coming up with something unseen is a challenging task, but Bonkura always managed to show us something new.
It is very sad that we've lost such a great pen spinner.
In his honor, I am committing myself to devoting more of my spinning time to new tricks/concepts from now on.

Death is an inevitable part of life, but it is saddening to know that it arbitrarily selects its victims. It seems unfair that one's candle that has been burning brightly
for years can be extinguished in a single instant, especially at the startlingly tender age of 21. These events always feel surreal but tragedy obstinately disillusions us, reminding us of the fragility of life. But it also teaches us to cherish every moment with those we love because we never know when they will be gone. And even though bonkura has departed this world, he'll be constantly watching over us from a better place, relentlessly cheering us on from the sidelines as we strive towards our collective dream. And some time in the far future, we may yet meet again to reminisce, commiserate and joke about times past. Although bonkura is gone, his spirit is eternal and he'll always have a special place in our hearts.

bonkura was modest and shy person, I think what you all need to do is not worship him as the best there is and there'll ever be, because although all this honor is deserved, what he really wants us to do as crash pointed is for us to be re-united under ps. We need think about what he would want us to do.
We need to move on and accept his death. We need to improve upon the work he did and eventually surpass him. If we could all work a little harder to push pen spinning a little bit further, then we would have given him the greatest honor he could have ever wanted. This is what would make him truly proud of us. -

I have read few pages in this thread but i'm still hard to believe he left. When i saw the picture in PSAJ news, it's even hard to believe it. The 1st thing i do right after i got my internet connected today is i saw and read this post. It just all of a sudden.
I dont know what to say now. What i can only say is bonkura's pen spinning inspired me the most and his pen spinning is one of those great spinners that gave me motivation.

Damn... I always wanted to become a famous spinner through creativity and innovations. Bonkura did just that.
Lately I have slowed down in spinning for the second time, although I wasn't quitting I had put a stop to "learning" and instead made the same mistake that most PSers do and spent my time freestyling boring and repetative tricks. Because of you Bonkura, my hand is reborn.
In honor of Bonkura I'm going to take spinning seriously again... Forever. I will never again pick up a pen and simply freestyle, but to always try something different, learn, create, and imagine new aspects of PS, to push the limits.
I will think of you every time I have a pen in my hand. You will be the inspiration of my future great achievments... Thanks in advance.

I thought it was a joke at first too... I wish that I would be able to believe more readily in things like religion so it wouldn't seem so much like "the end"

I was first introduced to spinning from a video my friend showed me on YouTube. Since then I knew that during all the collaborations, Bonkura was unique. I started to learn the basics, fingerpassing, charge's and such. I was watching one of bonkura's videos today when I noticed one called. "Tribute to Bonkura", at first I did not understand. I thought, "why would there be a tribute?". Then I read the comments on the video, and in that instant I was deeply sad. Even me, who is new to this, I have always thought that he was indeed the most creative and original spinner out of all of the ones out there. He played a large role in my motivation to learn this art.
To die at the age of 21 is....truly a sad thing. Reading all of your post's actually brought tears to my eyes. I was shocked I was actually crying, someone who barely knew him. It is such a shame that someone like him, who did not seem to brag about his skills, who was truly a kind hearted person had to leave this way. My grandmother died 2 weeks ago, so I have come to realize death does not come with warning. We must simply think about what the person would have wanted us to do, and then do it.
I am not saying I knew him personally, but as a human being, in this situation...to not be affected by this loss would be impossible in my mind.
I am no where close the the level of skill he possesed, or many of you for that matter, I am new to the spinning world, and I hope one day my finger passes will atleast come close to the fluidity he had.
You all remember how he would always give a thumbs up after he was done in his videos? Truly was a good person.
I express my greatest sympathy to the family, losing your child is something no parent should have to experience.

It could have been a matter of sudden cardiac death. There has been lots of such cases recently, no idea why though.

took me long enough to reply here, he's death affected me in a bad bazzare way, got me depresed, gues i'm not very good with dealing with death, even if it's someone I've never talked to, just someone I knew from videos, and forum posts,,,but still,, like everyone else I guess, I was inspired tramendously from him , truley a remarkable spinner, one of the fuew who deseved their own folder in my PS folder, along with4 or 5 other guys,, what i'm trying to say is I guess,, bunki, you were and amazing spinner and a nice guy judging on your tv appearances and forum posts,, and what happend to you is just plain bad, very distasteful from gods end,, just sucks..

I put up this topic bcuz bonkura was a good friend and one of the best pen spinners of all time. But then Bonkura died from heart failier in the hospital and now he will never be able tp spin again but now all we know is that hes in a better place whatching down on all of us.Bonkura is one of the nicest ppl we have ever met and one of the greatest ppl we ever met. Bonkuras death hurt us all and its hert me to i would like a lot of ppl for this thread about put how great bonkura is and one thing about bonkura that is great about him... =(
I know this isnt necsessary but its just really sad to here how he died and how a lot of ppl knew how great he was and how many ppl cared for him.

uhh I was referring to the notions of the Shinto, which is of course the state religion in Japan, which says that death is impure, so you should not wish or fake or enter in contact with death. -
