I read in another thread in this that someone has 30fps, which is plenty. My webcam says it records at 30fps, but my videos are not fine at all. Is this because the software I'm using to record is rubbish? I've used both WMM and Haduri, and both come out with similar results. If it's a software issue, what should I use try to record?

Try lowering the resolution. Most cams cant record 30 FPS @ 640x480

I use WMM and everything works out just fine...

Try encoding videos with a higher bitrate, in WMM when you are saving the .wmv file, it displays what bitrate and framerate your movie will be encoded at

To record video, go to File > Capture AVI, then set the file to record to in File > Set Capture File then record with Capture > Capture Video

I prefer small programs, since I just don't have to do anything (just push the record button and send to youtube tongue.gif). I use "Debut"

I use Windows Movie Maker, because Haduri doesn't work with my cam recorder sad.gif

Is it possible to capture videos directly to the computer using a regular digital camera and some sort of software?

Yeah, but capture videos whilst the camera is plugged in? So you don't have to film, move over, remove from the camera, etc.
