New Mod (Name Change) thx Guitrum

RRMMX=Retractable Reversed Momentum MX RG2T=RSVP G2 Translucent(name credit goes to Guitrum)
A simple mod made up of only 2 pens, that are very common. Approx. 10 minutes -20 minutes to make the mod, all depending on how fast you can cut and make a hole. Let's get started.
Materials:
1. 1 Pentel RSVP (prefferably Med. size)
2. 1 Pilot G2 (any color)
3. toothpick
4. grips(optional)
Tools:
1. x-acto knife
2. pliers
3. tape
Procedure:
1. Take apart both pens, then leave your self the parts shown in the picture

2. Put the other parts aside, leaving yourself with the RSVP barrel and cap. Cut accordingly, shown by the red lines in the picture.

3. Put those aside and take out the G2 Inktube, cut about 1cm from the cap. This is about where the gel ends.

4. Get your cut RSVP cap and barrel. Put any kind of tape around the place on the barrel shown in the picture.

5. Retrieve your cut end of the G2 Inktube, top G2 barrel part, and taped RSVP barrel. Insert a insert if you have one into the RSVP barrel. Take the cut end of the G2 inktube and then insert it, cap first, into the top G2 barrel part. After this is done, take your taped RSVP barrel and just twist or push it into the open-ended end of the G2 barrel part. It should now look like this.

6. Now take the back cap of the RSVP, the little black cap, and drill or make a hole. Make sure this hole is big enough so that the RSVP inktube will slide in and out smoothly. In other words, make the hole big enough to slide the whole inktube through smoothly.

7. Now, take your RSVP inktube, spring, and toothpick. Pinch or tape somewhere 1.8mm from the writing end of the RSVP inktube to that you can fit the G2 spring in snugly so that it doesn't move when you click. Cut your toothpick so that it is around 1.7cm long, then insert it into the open-ended end of the RSVP inktube. What you should have should look like this.

8. Now take the RSVP barrel/G2 barrel and insert your new inktube into it. Make sure the toothpick doesn't get stuck on the edge of the G2 inktube cap. After having this done, retrieve your black RSVP back cap with the hole and screw it onto the RSVP barrel. Take out your cut RSVP top cap and just put it on the back cap. make sure the cut end is facing upwards. (For people who want to use a metal tip/tip just sand down the teeth of the end of the RSVP barrel and it should fit snugly, replacing the black back cap. If you have sanded it down too much just use tape to fill the gap.)

9. Last step, CLICK YOUR NEW PEN MOD, you can add grips on the ends if you want.
Finished Product and COP:
Weight: Ext. BICtory
Length: 18.7cm non-retracted
18.5cm retracted
Pros:
-COG=COP
-simple and easy to make
-wieght is good for beginners and pros
-retractable
-easily accessible
-comes in many colors
-inserts!
-good for infinities, TA's and many other tricks
-feels like one pen, the link between both pens is smooth
-uber stable
Cons:
-looks ugly, to some people
-too light, for really heavy users
This is my first mod and tutorial, hope you guys like it. Give me some feedback. Hopefully, you guys like the high quality pics. Sorry I had to link the pictures, I guess I'm not allowed to post full blown pictures.

depends, what kind of grips you use, if you don't use grips at all. I've found with one side, the clicking part with grips tends to slip.

it looks easy enough to put an insert in both sides of the mod - like an mmx/nx mmt.
i'd have to say that i don't like the look of it but well done making a new stable mod out of common pens. -

as for the infinities, it depends on the grip ur using. the g2 grips arent as grippy as anyball grips or profile grips. u can experiment on which u like most

I made it!! I would post a picture, but my digital camera is broken. Very good tutorial. I love the retractable tip, and it's the perfect weight. I need this after I lost my RSVP MX.

Wait a sec... On that picture the RSVP barrel says BK91 "!!?!?!" isnt it supposed to be BK90...

Keep adding grips, if not...try to finda way out. You could also fill the barrel with toothpicks or put tape around the barrel to add more wieght. As for the tip you can sand down the teeth of the barrel where the cap screws on and put a signo tip on with a grip to hold it in place, then put the cut RSVP cap over it. Or you can just use superglue.

darkeh.if its loose add tape the grip doesn't do anything but add grip for infinities. Make sure that you used the right kind of cap. There are 2 RSVP's fine and medium. If you used spare parts, try to find a cap that fits. of not just add more G2 grip to the tip end. All G2 grips are the same btw.
If your usinga metal tip. I used the original RSVP grip to hold the signo tip in place. It fits very snugly. -

I just got rid of that piece of cap, got some random rubber grip that fits good and a metal tip, kind of wierd colors: red and yellow/white :/. Works good though, thx for the tut.

its a pretty good pen to start out with i guess, but thats my opinion. A rsvp mx or bictory are other mods u could try out, ther both very easy to make

its a nice beginner mod, but there might be a few problems:
the first was having ways to cut/drill. i... erm... don't have any kind of knife, so i ended up using a kitchen knife. and yes, my mom did complain to me later last week about how her knives seemed duller... haha. as for drilling, i was too lazy to get the drill out, so i used a metal skewer, which worked fine.
if you have the right tools, its EASY stuff.
and 2nd: make sure you put an insert in. the pen looks so much better with an insert, and if you need, make it short enough so that the spring doesn't bunch up on it in the back.

as for drilling, all i did was take a small screw driver and drive it thru with a hammer
as for the insert, i didnt have to cut it short and it perfectly fit over the spring...i dont know what u did wrong becuz that should not be an issue -

On the right side is the cut RSVP cap. and it hasa grip on it. Also yes, you can put an insert later, just make sure you can take apart the RSVP barrel and G2 body later on.

Alright, its true, taping is bad. Pinching works well though, pinching is where u squeeze the ink tube so it gets flat and bits of plastic pop out of the side, stopping the spring. Dont pinch too hard or the inktube will get stuffed up.
Take apart some retractable pens and look at the inktube. Near the tip, theres this little protruding bit of plastic to stop the spring. -

Sort of a random question on my part but why is the R in "R²SG2VP" squared? I could understand if you used 2 rsvp pens then two r's would be R², but you only use 1 rsvp and 1 g2.

And if you dont like the look, you can use a tip in stead or just not cut the RSVP cap, COP will be off though. -

I made this and it's a nice mod. Here's a pic. I didn't put the cut piece of the rsvp cap back on because it just didn't feel right. so i put a grip right over the back cap. and a little strip of grip on the back of pen.
Oh and btw my insert is a piece of crossword puzzle cut from the newspaper, because that's one of the things ill probablement use the pen for -

okay first of all, ther are a bunch of color choices, becuz g2's and rsvp's come in all sorts of colors
second, if u dont like the wieght/look, why'd u make it? ther was pictures of it and i even mentioned the weight in the tutorial....

my version
uses a "pre-pinched" ink-tube and a longer toothpick, didnt use the rsvp cap, and i put as much of an insert as possible in the g2 part. yay! i love it!

I made one using a purple G2 and a Black RSVP... love it.
Until I can get ahold of some large grips, I placed electrical tape on both ends for momentum.

I made mine "metallic" by adding signo tips to the end. although now it doesnt write but it does have huge momentum and weight lengthy and its hawt...

The insert in the RSVP part is short so that I know the clear area is the COG.
I haven't gotten around to putting an insert in the G2 half... I might just leave it clear. -

oh didnt see that, i put it on both sides held it with anyball grips and i put water in the inside of the barrels cuz it looks so badass -

I jsut use a tiny bit of hot glue and for the liquid i read somewhere on here to put.. The ink form the pen (mines pink) and a bit of chlorine/bleach so shit doesnt grow.
It looks nice feels heavier.. i like it now all i need is an LED inside lmao -

Hey I just wanted to say that this penmod is awesome. This is only the 2nd mod I've made (the basic Pentel RSVP mod don't know what it's called) but still I love it even if it took me about 2-3 hours to make (I know, I'm a n00b). Thanks for inventing(?) it!

I didn't use the cut cap on the writing end, because it threw the CoG way off CoP. Without it the balance is just about perfect.

Aries, in step 4, where is says put tape around the cut part of the RSVP body. Is it purple because you used purple tape?
I don't think I have colorful tape, maybe I should use masking tape then color it with a marker? -

OMG ! I had to repost,
I was searching for the Pilot G2,
Than I went to the kitchen for dinner,and I saw my mother writing with a pen...
After she finished I asked her to give me the pen for a minute,and WTF - Pilot G2.
I asked her where did she get it from, and she said that she has many G2 pens in her work,and she will bring me some tommorow.
LAWL , Gonna try this mod as soon as my father get me some RSVPs from the mall (The only place where you can find them here)

are you using the same grips on the back?
also, are g2 tubes tinted? they all seem to be, but on guitrums pen the rsvp and g2 look the same color. maybe it's just the insert making it look as though theres no tint. -

as it said in the tutorial, u dont have to put the but RSVP cap. if u just want to use grips instead, make sure there are more grips on the front than on the back to balance the weight. It doesnt really matter what grip u use but u could use anyball/profile grips or the G2 grips.

Ok, basically i went out and bought a 2 pack of G-2's that happened to be tinted. then i bought an 8 pack of RSVP colors and used the black one which also happened to be tinted. The grip farthest back towards the clicky end is part of the G-2 grip. the red ring below it is cut off of the red RSVP from my 8 pack. below that one is just a centimeter cut off of the black RSVP from the 8 pack. on the writing end the red ring is just 2 more rings cut off of the red grip from the red RSVP from the 8 pack stacked to match the thickness of the black grips around it which are grips off of a PENTECH mechanical pencil. the inserts i made myself and if you would like me to post them (even though i should post them on the "show off your insterts" forum) i will. -

I can feel that Aries' RRMMX is gonna be as big of a hit as Kam's RSVP MX was. So I want to make a name for my version of the RRMMX. Basically im naming the equivalent of the RSVP MX² if you get what im saying. Im just naming a variant of the actual mod. So I have decided to name my variant RRMMX-T. The T is for 'Translucent' because both of the bodies are tinted black. If anyone opposes this then please say so (especially Aries because it's his mod).

That shouldn't be necessary...
i hate when people do this...the change the gripping of a mod or put on a different tip than the orginal and call it a new mod/variation.
if you just change the grips or tip on a mod...the insert shouldn't even matter...it still not a new mod.
what you need in a new mod is a brand new idea/mechanism of how the pen works. you could have renamed this mod if you
have changed the retracable part (the G2 Mechanism) to...idk lets say an anyball retrac mech...then you could say its ur own mod.
or change it to a mechanical pencil mod but using the same mechanism.
MMX and MMT are using different parts.
MMT T is longer, uses different way to put on the tip. little variation but still pretty different from MMX.

but if you drill the whole in the rsvp back cap too big...or just even so it comes out smoothly, when you try to write with it, wouldn't the ink tube tip move all around making it awkward to write with if you know what im saying?
the hole would be too big for the inktube tip to hold it in tightly to write with it? not sure if it has been fixed, havn't made this mod yet so not sure. just going off of what im seeing. -

Yes, it would mess up the writing, if the hole was to big. But...notice the RSVP back cap is kind of like a cone, it has a circle at the top. Usually the inktube of the RSVP would fit perfectly just before the hole goes past thee outline of that circle on the backcap. That's when I stop drilling(Well, not really drilling, I have my own way). If the inktube does move when writing it doesn't take away from the writing fluidity/smoothness. From my experience I can write fine with the inktube loose. Just to warn you this mod is pretty short, but a very good writing ustensil and it's hella durable depending on if you put a insert on the back side or not.

Did you mean to use that for drilling???????? That's kinda wierd but w/e how do you get the hold big enough for the RSVP inktube to fit through? I use a screwdriver and hammer through the cap to make a hole. Then use needle nose pliers to enlargen the hole. So ya......

Here is my 10 Step Tutorial for the way that I get a perfect hole in the RSVP back cap:
Step 1: Get the back cap, binder clip, hammer, and either a nail, needlenose plyers or a multi-tool that has a borer in it.

Step 2: Pinch one of the silver parts on the binder clip and remove it.

Step 3: Bend the removed clip so that it is almost at a 90 degree angle.

Step 4: Place the end of the removed clip in the divet that is on the top of the back cap as shown in picture.

Step 10: Before you make the hole bigger than you need, check the hole by putting the inktube the hole after each time you bore into the back cap. This way you are guarenteed to have a snug hole. (For the RRMMX, you may want to make it just a tiny bit larger so that the tip can come in and out freely, but is still stable enough to write with)

well u could do that, or just take a screw driver and hammer it through with a hammer. don't hammer it through on the first hit because this usually splits the back cap in half. take small hits and the screw driver will eventually go through
then take pliers or something with rough edges and twist it. this will enlarge the hole. remember to check if the inktube fits every few twists

TEK, for the back cap, make the hole normal sized. However, inside the back cap, the ridges, grind those away with a drill or somethign because they will cause the spring to get stuck.
Not the spirals for screwing it on, the thin ridges.

cuz guitrum wanted to name it no more name changes though, to fix the clicker being loose or weak. Your solution is to pinch or tape the spring lower down the inktube towards the wrtiing tip, nothing changes except the force the spring applies. -

sand down the threads at the back cap part where it's supposed to be screwed on, make sure the spring is not so powerful so that the tip will be forced out when clicked. Just us a HGG tip or fake signo tip thats plastic. no need to balance unlessu s use a signo.

Contrary to what these other mean, mean people have said, there IS a workaround for the toothpick. I just finished my second of this mod (i like it a lot) and, by cutting just a little bit more from the g2 inktube and inserting said cut portion OPEN END FIRST - CAP LAST, the regular rsvp inktube spans the distance so a toothpick is not required. I'll post pictures when I can. -

I made one of these just now. Its quicker with a dremel. The pen itself is solid as hell. The clicker works great and nothing rattles around inside. It is a little too fat for my liking but its easy to spin. I like the fact that the clip is on there but it doesnt get in the way. I like the RSVP cap usage on the end of it. It has really good balance.

Finally done. This was my first real mod (besides a bictory and a rsvp v1) and I must say that this tutorial was very well done. With this and the wiki entry I had no problems putting it together, aside from trying to cut plastic with a dull knife. I will post a picture of it once I'm happy with the insert. what you do, is you cut the clip off, and then sand down the knub with sand paper or a file. that way, you are left with just the colored band that is around the back of the g2 piece.

This was the first mod that I learned how to make. Its really nice. But I put one small section of a grip from the G2 on the end where the ink tip comes from to balance it even better. But not I use a BICtory.
