General Discussion / What do you use to practice?

So, been spinning for 2-3 months now, and have the basics worked out as well as a few very short combos and advanced moves. However, Im trying to put some time in a practice and get a little better. Having recently picked up both a pencil mod and a Dr. KT, I was curious if you guys thought it was more effective to practice with a light, thin mod, or something heavier and thicker?.
Thanks! -

I believe many have asked the same question before, but I would recommend that you get a mod that is heavier than your pencil, but lighter than your KT. Since you've just begun, I recommend that you learn most of the tricks/hybrids/combos out there before you start spinning your KT. The reason why is because after you start spinning your KT, you might get used to it to the point that you can't spin mods/pens lighter than it. However, if you've learned nearly all the tricks out there, go ahead and start spinning it. It will help you for the very advanced stuff out there(Bakfall, Twisted Sonic Bust x5, etc.)
Oh, let me add that personally, I've only begun spinning my KT even though I've been spinning for ten months now. I use it for these purposes:
1)Learn advanced combos/hybrids because it spins slower, so I can see what I'm doing wrong
2)Practice "smoothness" -

I practise with my Signo Tipped ballsign or my Dr. KT.
The Dr. KT is a really good practicing tool cause it has lots of momentum.
A normal ballsign has momentum too but after spinning a Dr. KT, it feels very light so I add Signo tips to the end for weight.
I use my ballsign in school and my Dr. KT at home. -

Currently using my Zig TC-3000 with two supergrips for spinning and learning. My TC-6000 with two G2 grips now serves as backup

My usual "everyday' pen is either a ComPirat or a metal Comssa. I guess I'll keep using those for a while, and bring out the pencil and KT when I want to tighten up some tricks.
Thanks for the info -

I use an MSXA, of course I don't have many other mods >_>
I like the weight of it, it's perfect. And the length is really good for me too. -

I use my signo tipped ballsign too.
It's what I'm learing double bust and bak fall on
and then for practicing smoothness and specific combos I'll use my IMX or a regular MX. -

i recommend light pens, pencils ftw but yeah, if you start with heavy pens and asked to perform basics on a normal pen you're screwed but there's more reasons to it than that, it's just better to go light then get heavier as difficuty builds, just my personal opinion though

To learn new tricks, a KT or something along those lines. But I'm a heavy-pen spinner, I mainly use extended KT, kUzu mod and heavier comssas. But when I started, I used a BICtory at first, and then MX's and such. Also try learning (from total noob) on a pencil or something that's really short. Yeahh...

i almost never use a light mod, my pen of choice is my metallic comssa
it has good weight and momentum, imo, it is great for any trick
