Welcome to the Simple Clear body Dr.KT tutorial!
A mini tutorial by me, K4S
I've seen many threads asking how to make a clear Dr.KT and the answer to that question is either find clear keityo or find a persons's pens or find pen XYZ etc, all of which are generally rare or difficult to get. This tutorial will provide an effective and simple solution to making a Clear Dr.KT.
I've known about this for a long time, sorry, one of the many mini mods & variations to be forever stored in my secret box of pen mods
But it's thanksgiving weekend and I had some time to spare so I decided to make this tutorial.
I never realised until I measured it but this mod (if made correctly) is 0.1mm longer than a real Dr.KT. As well, the diameter of a Keityo barrel (measured in the middle of the body) is 9.75mm and the "substitute" barrel (measured from the middle of the body) is 9.70mm, so you cynics don't have much to complain about, mmmkay?
Stats:
-pretty much the same as a Dr.KT
So let us begin�
1.
You will need:
1x bare rsvp barrel
2x rsvp back caps
2x pre-made Dr.KT caps (Keityo + sailor grips + dr.grip tip)
2.
Get the rsvp body and follow the directions on the picture. The bottom rsvp body is what it should look like once cut, and make sure you get it under 0.6cm (0.5cm will do) or else the back cap wont fit on it properly.
3.
The cap should be very snug. It should not be able to wiggle around.
4.
The order in which to do the following has been numbered 1-4, you can follow along, right?

Trouble Shooting Questions:
Q: I screwed on the back cap on the side with tape, put the dr.KT cap on, but when I went to take the Dr.KT cap off the rsvp back cap got pulled out as well and is stuck inside the Dr.KT cap. How do I get it out?
A: Take another rsvp body, screw on the body to the back cap stuck in the dr.KT cap and then pull it out.
Q: How durable is the side where the back cap screws onto tape?
A: Durable enough for regular spinning unless you plan to practice leguining it against a wall.

That's really cool. I would have never thought of using an RSVP for the body.
You could just use a ballsign body though. I think that's what most people who have clear KTs use. -

Yep, 9 pens. However, Dr.KT uses 7 pens, so if you look at it from that point of view my little variation for a clear body only uses an extra 2 rsvp which is only $2 extra.

Awesome K4S, especially since the caps don't actually have to be Dr. KT caps (I mean one can as well use KT caps with G-1 tips, just grips, etc).
Question though, wouldn't there be more weight in the body here then on a regular KT? -

@Sfsr: Yeah, i suppose the rsvp body might weight slightly more than a KT body but i dont think its much different. When i have the opportunity i'll try to weight them both.
@Jamie: Im not really sure what you would call it
Also, if you dont put tape on the rsvp back caps you can jam on comssa caps (they wont completely cover the back caps) and have a clear body comssa. However, its ~1cm shorter than an a real comssa but it doesnt have the cut in the middle like the HGG clear comssa version. -

Yeah, the tape is more of a precautionary measure, especially for spinners who can spin crazy fast like Donza. After all, you dont want dr.KT caps flying off...been there, done that and results are usually bad

And I've just tested spinning with regular gripped KT caps, if there are Dr Grip tips attached to them, I guess they would fly of more easily.

i'm makin this mod right now but with sharpie caps. i was wondering if i should cut the top wer the little knob is...like in pholord's Dr. ST mod.

I used a back cap with a drilled hole and used the ink tube from a Pilot Dr. Grip to make it a writable pen. -

Afaik, there are more then one version up on PW, and the inserts he uses aren't released. You should be able to find something suitable in the "Show Your Inserts" thread though.

jw but what is the best way to keep the back cap on?
i tried tape, teflon tape, hot glue, and even gorilla glue, but it always comes off
then darkeh sent me a clearbody kt that was perfect.

the one i use is called dr bond
and they only try to intimidate u with that "bonds to skin in seconds! achtung!" crap it comes off in 2 days.. -

a great way to hold the back cap on is by:
1-put a tiny bit of superglue on the plastic part where you put the back cap on
2-wrap paper around where you just put the superglue and apply more superglue as you wrap the paper around
3- apply enough paper so the back cap fits snugly
i reccomend testing the paper under the back cap before you put the superglue. then you know how much paper you need.
the main reason for this is so you can actually screw off the back cap. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T APPLY SUPERGLUE TO THE OUTERMOST LAYER OF PAPER!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DONT WANT THE BACK CAP TO BE STUCK, YOU WANT IT TO SCREW OFF!!!!!!! Or at least me because i put inktubes in. -

If you put comssa caps on the clear body, you will have absolutely NO momentum and it will suck to spin.

As already said, the comssa caps are too small, unless you want to do a lot of filing for the rsvp backplug (And I dont even know if the plug will file down so thin)

i dont think penwish sells only kt caps. you have to buy all the materials. but im sure some traders would be glad to trade some pre made caps.. -

Use hotglue to glue it on and wrap some tape around it. Then the Cap should fit tightly and nothing wiggles around anymore

make the cut off side the same length as the threads, which also means you can use the front for an SBV
