i'm guessin you mean the ta rev flick thing right ??
if so:
don't use your hand only use your middle finger or ring or pinky for the flick if you don't use your hand motion then you won't do a fl ta rev cuz ya can't
just grip the pen tight in between middle and thumb then stretch your middle finger -

Well you can just do a Bak, Shadow Rev, or Fl TA Rev after it. I don't see any problem with linking it.

it doesnt have that much aesthetic value and well.. its pretty useless lol

I use flick alot lol. So it isnt useless at all.
Take a look at bonkura solo 1 (iirc),
he does a twisted sonic to flick to achieve a kind of effect so it does have some aesthetic value.
FL TA Rev has a wrist/arm/hand movement and sometimes, you dont really want that.
It all comes down to how flexible you are in applying the trick.
