hello everyone, Yet again it's another one of my awkward pen mods FTW. Anywho, I had the crazy idea one day...I want a better dr. grip that was spinnable. the original wasn't long enough. so had to fix that. but the cool part is...still completely retractable with its Gel ink laugh.gif

    Length: 20.6cm
    CoG: COP
Weight: with Shaker placement, Mildly heavier than a dr. Kt MUCH quieter
with RSVP inktube placement, same weight as Dr. Kt, bit noisier

    Alrighty, Lets begin:
    Materials needed:
1 American Dr. Grip Shaker pencil
1 American Dr. Grip Gel Roller Pen
    1 G2
    {OPTIONAL} RSVP inktube
    ------------------------------------------
    1. Disassemble all the pens so it'll look like this
---On the Dr. Grip Mechanical pencil, just take a screwdriver and push done on the cap, that'll knock out the spring/eraser/metal ring.

    2. Use a Pliers Pull off the metal clips(Twist them off, not pull, much easier) so they look like this

    3. Now push out the G2 clicker and Cut where the line is

    4. now get the shaker mechanism ready

    5. Next screw off the mechanical pencils grip placement and leave the Gel roller in, and PUSH the body of the mechancil onto the grip placement, it should be a straight fit no looseness or curve.

    6. Then Measure one of the Dr. Grips the length of gap(be sure to put the metal rim at the back of the grip so eye candy:p) and cut the grip so it covers the cap completely, leave the leftovers for later.

    7. now that the grip is cut, unscrew the roller from the grip placement and put the G2 clicker into the end of the Gel roller, OPTIONAL: YOU CAN USE THE SHAKER MECHANISM OR THE SAME LENGTH OF AN RSVP INKTUBE, READ THE BEGINNING FOR DIFFERENCE and put the shaker mechanism in next and screw the placement back on.

    8. place the Gel roller ink down the open end of the other side

    9. Now, Take the Gel Roller tip, WITH THE ORIGINAL SPRING still inside the tip, and place it over the end with the ink sticking out.

    10. now hold it and take the G2 grip and Push it over the grip and onto the pen till your within one mini section of the first.(takes a bit of effort to push)

    11. Now cut the remainder at the fourth line down on the G2 grip
    12. Place the other section of The Dr. Grip Grip on the other end of the pen

    13. YOUR DONE! YAY??!!

    Finished Product:

    Q&A:

Q: iMatt, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU, WHY WOULD YOU MAKE SUCH A EXPENSIVE MONSTROSITY?
A: Because I like nice writing and a spinnable dr. grip

Q: The tip doesn't come out very far when i put it together
A: Chances are you cut the G2 clicker part too short. add a piece of toothpick and that should take care of it

Q:What are the perks of the RSVP inktube vs the Shaker mechanism
A: the Pen is then dead COP for COG and it'll be lighter, but noisier.

    Enjoyza!

    i really like this idea,
but you used really ugly colors.
if you could use matching colors, that'd be nice biggrin.gif

Nice mod. Makes the Dr.Grip much more spinnable smile.gif

And black/white is a good color scheme...dr.grips dont even come in that many different colours as far as i know.

You need to have one of each So the grip barrel fits into the other one seamlesslessly

By no means is it a Dr. Kt replacement. Its just a spinnable version that is retractable GEL ink.

LoL, such a waste that it uses only the remaining parts of american dr. grips dry.gif

May not be a looker, but functionality wins
