intro
ok so this will be my first real contribution on this site, the revival of my all-time favorite pen mod, the SPS. I've done some mods to the original blueprint princeconor has left behind, and i think i actually IMPROVED what was once though to me the best mod ever.
why you should make this mod
face it, you have a lot of parts leftover. you make a MMT, you throw the other parts in a box, hoping something comes and you can make it. even if you break a beloved rsvp, you throw the body in the box, you know, "just in case". well, now you can put them to good use! i will show you how to make a simple mod that only really takes 2 pens, but to enhance the pen i suggest going through the whole mod step-by-step.
[Name of Pen Modification]:SPSR (spare parts supreme revised)
[Center of Gravity]: dead center
[Length in Centimeters]: 20.32 cm
[Weight in relative terms]: 14.3 grams (may vary)
[Style]: classic looking pen mod
[Estimated cost]: 2-3 dollars if you outright buy these pens, but if your a modder that has made a MMT and a broken rsvp, free!
[Pens Needed]:
-1x rsvp (or more if you would like to make the rings in the cap)
-1x G2 front barrel
-1x profile/anyball (aprrox. 18 rings used, but you can use more or less)
-3x BBs
- paper towel
pros:
- very few pens
-looks like a normal pen
-dead center weight, the pen practically "knows" what to do
-creativity is possible
-utilizes half of the mx, you know the half that us in the USA can get
cons
-can be tedious to make
-may break eventually(never has happened to me)
-uses unconventional items that you might not be able to find in your house
all in all, its definatly a good pen to try out, even if you dont have BBs, you might not need it! i have some that just dont need the extra weight.
lets get started!!
get all your parts out and your tools. for tools i used a file (a must have!!!) and wire cutters...i dont know why i put the knife in there lol
first your going to need to cut the very first notch that sticks up where the g2 barrel screws onto. also, take out the spring, discard.
if you have a broken rsvp at the tip you dont need to do anything but follow the following, but if your using a new rsvp, take the wire cutters and cut the tip off.
next step is the hardest, but trust me, as you start making these more you get a hang of it. you need to file down the broken rsvp so that the g2 slips on snuggly. now if you dont have a good file this may take forever but trust me its worth it. you will be rewarded for your hard work
tips: pay close attention to the front and back of the barrel your filing down, those are the 2 key points. if you get those good, the middle is easy to fix.
make sure your sanding down evenly and if enough pressure or else your tip will be offset
well you look at that, 3 bbs add up to 1.3 gs..almost as much as an HGG tip! good news to any US spinner haha
now your gonna wrap the bbs in toilet paper/paper towel and stuff them in the g2 part all the way to the front like this
this part is just like doing a RSVP MX, but i cut rings off of some old rsvp grips that were deformed retrived from unwanted rsvp caps, and placed them in a order i felt matched a somewhat theme to the pen (i always thought the science mx had a good color scheme ) also, wrap 2-4 rings of profile grips parallel on the outside of your rsvp cap to the grip in the rsvp.
put 13-15 rings of profile grips on your g2 barrel, stick it on the rsvp barrel, and you my friend, have made one ballin' ass mod!

if anyone has any questions they want me to answer, or if i messed up horribly on this tutorial, please let me know so i can feel like an idiot and change it.
please post up pics if you have made the mod also.
thanks for your time,
happy spinning! -

umn, i dont think "may break eventually" can be used as a con,

I just made this mod. only 2 words are needed to describe it
It owns.
spins amazing,cheap to make,dead center balance....its perfect
wasn't all that hard to make either, the sanding took only about 5 minutes.
i did not have any bbs, so i used a tiny screw i found lying around i put some tape over the threads put it in the cap then got the g2 spring put tape on it so it wouldn't rattle put that in the cap and it was dead center balanced
this mod deserves a , , and a -

An HGG tip is about 0.674 grams.
Nice job on your mod though. It's nice how it's really cheap to make! -

I am working on my own retractable version of this..its like a cross between an MPFX, an RSVG2, and this mod, only its a pen not mech. pencil
Overall.. nice..i mean its perfect cause its like almost full utilization of leftover pens.
very nice mod
