Hi all,
I'm new to this, and i was wondering why people dun like modding their normal pencils. it has great balance and might be slightly too thin but IMHO adding sealing tape to the ends and putting a G2 grip pretty much settles it. any comments? -

I put some electrical tape one the writing side of a pencil so it was more balanced and easier to write with....if that counts.

I think people dont mod pencils because there isnt much you can do it, other then take the eraser from one pencil and put it on the tip of another.

yeah.. I've done some stuff with pencils in the past. One of my favorite spinning utensils was a pencil that I made double eraser'd (which I lost and still haven't made a new one). To do that just pull the metal part off of a pencil, get a second pencil and maybe partially sharpen it (like one or 2 turns in a hand held sharpener), and put the metal part of the first pencil on it.
I tried making some other mods without much success. The one that I really tried to get was putting two pencils together by using the metal back w/o the eraser to link them, and being able to put an eraser on one end and sharpen the other end. I wanted it to be a reasonable length and be balanced in the centre. When I finally got one of those that turned out ok, it fell apart fairly quickly and I kind of gave up on the idea. This thread makes me want to try some stuff though.
Just realize that even though people say that there isn't much you can do with modding pencils, if you want to make a great pencil mod, just do some outside the box thinking and play around with pencils. Get a bunch of pencils and sharpen some to different lengths, take the metal part off of some, pull the erasers out of some, cut some up, and just generally mess around to see what you can do. However, I can't recommend getting one of those huge packs of cheap pencils. I made that mistake and they are just poorly made and won't serve you well.
Anyway, I hope I got you thinking. Now go play with some pencils. -

I just made a pencil. I used a pinkish metallic with 2 erasers, 2 full rsvp grips, and part of and anyball grip on each rsvp grip, I actually like it a lot. It is good without the anyballs too in my opinion and it is pretty good with dr. grip grips but I didn't like the look.

I like these pentech grip stick pencils. Not sure what they're exactly called but
I put an extra eraser on the other end and it spins great once you get used to
the skinniness of the barrel. The grippy barrel adds a different sort of feel but
it feels good. I found mine at K-mart in the U.S. -

Though regular pencils spin great, most people don't use them because of their limited modding abilities.
Also, all, if not most pencil mods eliminate it's conventional use: writing.
That's just my personal opinion
Anyway on topic. It's probably best to just get two eraser ends and put them on each side, and stick maybe a Profile grip on both sides as well.
I guess it should look like a Comssa or something. -

The only pencil I've spun is a Ticonderoga Laddie without an eraser, with random grips on the ends.

I just took an ordinary number 2 pencil and 2 papermate pen caps and some grips
the pencil's CoG is CoP and is fairly nice to spin
