General Discussion / Have you ever had a pen snap overnight?

One night I went to bed with my faux rsvp mx on my nightstand. I woke up and looked at it and was like why is the tip tilted so much? I tried to remove it and it would not come off. I removed the grip. The front part of the rsvp barrel was snapped, the ink tube was bent a little bit. How did I break part of an rsvp barrel overnight without touching it? Needless to say I was angry. I still can't make a faux mx as good as that one was sad.gif. They just don't spin as good as the original ;__;.

errr...this is why you should not sleep with your pens
If you have any pets, then that might be it

You probably broke it the day before without realizing it. Breaks that happen under the grip are not always easy to detect since there isn't always a distinctive snapping sound, and overnight the tip would have become pulled down (tilted) by gravity.

Tialys is right, it happens to my MSXA's all the time. I'm actually repairing one of my broken MSXA's right now T_T.
I've probably gone through 4 RSVP's from them breaking under the grip, I don't know if I'm sanding it down too much or what.

Had another one break under the grip last night again.

Snapped same exact place and snapped the same way.

    How is this happening?

just a quick thought, it may not be right, but if there is a rapid temp difference then it may cause the pen to snap

Had one break overnight that ended up under my pillow without my realising it (it could have been there for a couple of days). Luckily it was an AQA pen rather than RSVP (i.e. no ink spillage upon breakage as I often get with RSVPs).
