Here's the story, I released my MCX v.1 originally
http://www.upsb.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=6778
but I got a number of complaints saying they couldn't get the Keityo or colortwin plug and the cap tended to come off...and front had a big gap on it....and the cap couldn't go on the front...and it was too long
So I fixed all the problems. v2 and v3 weren't released because they were pretty much changing tips and barrel length experimentation, it wouldn't of been beneficial to anyone if I did. So that's the deal there.
Anyways, lets rock this sucker.
Stats:
----------------------------------------------------------------
Name: MCXv4
COG: Same as Standard RSVP MX
Length: 18.6 cm
Weight: MX < MCXv4 < MX²
Style: Single sided, non-retractable, GEL-ink
Estimated cost: $6-7
Pens Needed:
(1) RSVP
(1) Dong-a Sign Pen
(1) G3 {metal tip}
(1) HGG {tip and grip}
(1) G2 Inktube
----------------------------------------------------------------
Spoiler:
Techniques:
---------------------------------------------------
1.) For sanding the section to emulate the RSVP threads, place a thick amount of tape 1/2 cm back from the back of the dong-a body and that should prevent all "scar-tissue" sanding
2.) If your rsvp cap won't fit the G2 inktube tip, widen the cap with a precision screwdriver, and it'll fit fine.
Syrn's Method of Cutting
--------------------------------
© of Syrn, I DO NOT TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR THIS METHODHandy Tips ->I've only done the cutting of the dong-a barrel so far, but I have a method for using a utility knife if you don't have access to a hacksaw. iMatt said it would crack so instead of just cutting it i inserted the back of a papermate writebros pen into the barrel so it didnt bend on itself and crack. DONT INSERT THE PEN ALL THE WAY. Insert it until just enough until you feel a slight tension and you have part of the barrel under where you will cut, I inserted it until I got to the middle of the "M" in Papermate. This is the pen
Well first off, I marked off 12.4 cm with scotch tape, (do this with the papermate pen inserted so some of the tape sticks to it and it doesn't move from its position) I wrapped it around the barrel enough times to create a guideline for my cut. You really have to have a lot of patience for this method, but I slowly glided my knife around the guideline to create a groove and as i went around more and more i used a little more pressure each time around. Eventually the knife gets to a point where it separates the cut piece from the barrel
Q & A:
--------------------------------------------------
1.) Why does the RSVP cap not screw on?
- You haven't filed the back of the comSSa body enough
2.) Can I use RSVP Ink instead of Gel?
-Yes you can, but it will change the weighting entirely and you'll have to play around with tips in the backcap etc.
3.) I Don't have a G2 inktube, can i use the G3 inktube instead?
-yes you can, but you then will run the risk of the ink POSSIBLY leaking, its a low chance, but nonetheless.Date: Sun, Oct 19 2008 04:52:16The filing part seems annoying, but nice idea. I've done something like that except with a namae. The back plug of the rsvp plugs right onto the back of a namae.
Date: Sun, Oct 19 2008 18:13:53i dont get how its balanced the same as an mx with a signo and hgg on the front is it the g2 ink?

YAY! I managed to make a very clean cut this way.Date: Sun, Oct 19 2008 20:17:24I want one of these
goes mod*Date: Sun, Oct 19 2008 21:44:12Just made one of these. It's pretty good for spinning, exact same length as an mx, my cog is about 1/2 a cm towards the back in comparison to my mx, but w/e. The hardest part i had was getting the tips to stay while i slid the grip on. But overall 9/10
Edit:
I just took out the G2 inktube from the back, this pen is now almost perfectly balanced. If anyone has a problem with it being too back-heavy, try taking the inktube out.Date: Sun, Oct 19 2008 23:32:39Problem log-
-I have a problem. when i take my cap off the back cap pops off with it and I keep having to use the rsvp to fetch it out. Even when I sanded less it happened because when i sanded less it would make the back cap thicker because it would make it stretch out more, so i sanded more down so that didn't happen, and now its not tight enough. :vangry: ughh I hate when modding stresses me out this much, I've spent so much of my time and now it gets all fucked up.
-btw ive tried teflon tape to thicken it...not only does it thicken the back cap on the outside but after a couple of uncapping and recappings the teflon tape slid off and i have to fetch it out again...and before this happened the g2 inktube that was inside came out as well and i when i pulled the g2 inktube out to try and get the ink out before i could get the back cap...the ink separated from the tip because the cap was so tight in there...eventually i got it out but still.
-fixed- i used a different back cap...the other was probably abnormally thick...i shouold have just filed the backcap but i happened to have another red one.
-happened again- im currently trying to use regular tape to solve it.
-i shaved part of the backcap and tried teflon again and its working...im pretty sure im done unless it becomes a problem again....im considering superglue
4 days later- the teflon held up until today where it slid off and the back cap popped off again- I used a small slip of lined paper and this seems to make it really tight.Date: Mon, Oct 20 2008 06:41:47So I'm not really getting this... do you cut through the whole comssa? And then you sand it down so that you can screw the rsvp back plug on? Or.....

yes you cut part of the comSSa barrel OFF. Then measure 1/2 from the back and file down till you get an RSVP cap to fit/screw onto that section
