EDIT (12/6/08): NEW SUB FOR MP MECH. INSTEAD OF PhD!! I went to Daiso and found a 'double action' sort of pen. (pen, pencil; able to switch between the two) This is AWESOME because instead of buying the 7$ PhD, you can buy the $1.50 pen from Daiso. Here's a pic:

Hi, I'm Dori, and I proudly present my FIRST semi-tutorial called MP Namae mod v.2. laugh.gif
Umm since it is based off the Namae Mod, I give credit to the creater of it. (of whom I don't know >"<)
Oh and before I forget, PLEASE LET ME KNOW if I missed anything or if anything gets confusing; (maximum 10 pictures shown per topic was hard to comply to x.x) I'm new to making tutorials, and I want to clarify things as much as possible. >"< (criticism is more than welcome!) Thank you!
First off, here's how the final product looks like:

Looks just like the original Namae right?! smile.gif That's why I love it.

[Pen and video made by Limon.] Thanks!!

It is v.2 because my v.1's mechanism required pushing a toothpick to advance the lead, which looked really bad. -.- As a result, I never put a tutorial for it. After I got some nice feedback from the kind upsb community, I've made a successful v.2, as well as recieving request for a tutorial for it. Now, the back cap is pushed to advance the lead, which gives it a more classic look. smile.gif

    Stats:
    -Name: MP Namae Mod v.2
-COG: practically COP (.2 cm to the back; you won't even notice xD)
    -Length: 19.5 cm
-Weight: Signo-tipped Ballsign > MP Namae mod v2 > Namae Mod smile.gif (Sorry for such inaccurate weight, I'll get a more precise measurement in grams during my physics lab next week. >"<)
-Style: one side writable (yet 'double sided'?)
    -Writing-Mechanism: mechanical pencil
-Ink-Type: ...0.5 lead? requires empty RSVP inktube, however.
    -Estimated-Cost: Namae mod (~$6) + $12.50 (PhD Multi $7, RSVP $1, HGG $1.50, x2 Signo $1.50 ea) = $18.50
    OR Namae mod (~$6) + $4 (NEW SUB - Double Action $1.50, RSVP $1, HGG $1.50, x2 Signo $1.50 ea) = $13

    -------------------------------------------------

    Materials List:

PENS: (Can be ALL bought in America, if you live near a Daiso!)
    (2) Namae Pens (x2 caps, x1 empty body, x1 'backplug')
    (2) Signos (x2 tips)
(2-3) Sailors' colors of choice (x2-3 grips)
    (1) RSVP (x1 empty inktube)
    (1) PhD Multi (x1 mp mechanism) It can also be subbed with the Papermate Xtend Multi (credits to Santa for picture)
Also: NEW SUB! (from Daiso) Only $1.50 Double Action Pen.
    (1) HGG or old HGR (x1 backplug)

    Other materials:
    1 toothpick
    Packaging tape (preferred)
    Scissors
    Driller
X-acto knife (for layered tape cutting in step 9)

    -------------------------------------------------

    Spoiler:

    1.) Gather materials

1-x2 signos, 2-x2 Namae pens (mine already have sailors on them tongue.gif ), 3-HGG/old HGR, 4-RSVP, 5-PhD Multi

1-PhD MP part, 2-EMPTY Namae body, 3-RSVP inktube, 4-x2 Signos, 5-x2 Namae caps with sailors, 6-Namae backplug, 7-toothpick, 8-HGG backplug

2.) Drill holes (large enough for an rsvp inktube to fit through) into one of the namae caps and the single backplug of the namae. Try to center as much as possible. The namae cap with the hole will be used as the ‘mp end’ cap, or the front end. (The hole is so that the mp tip can go through.) In this tutorial, the cap with the red sailors will be the ‘mp end’ cap.

3.) Add a few layers of tape (enough so it's firmly in the namae cap, maybe 2-3 layers) around ONE signo and designate it to be the 'mp end' for the pencil when putting it in the namae cap. This is to prevent the signo from flying out when clicking the mechanism. The tape serves as a sort of 'superglue'. You'll understand later. Stuff it into the ‘mp end’ namae cap. Cut any excess tape that looks ugly.

    4.) Assemble overall look:
Put backplug into namae body, but not all the way in (just before all the way in), Signos into namae caps, double cap the namae body ('mp end' cap on the front part of namae), add preferred gripping of sailors on caps.

    Closer look:
    http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03245.jpg

    5.) Start making MP mechanism:
Cut about 6.5 cm of an empty rsvp ink tube. (Note: this length can be adjusted to personal liking, as long as the toothpick connects the PhD mp mechanism to the HGG backplug. You'll see why later.
    http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03246.jpg

6.) Connect the PhD mp mechanism (10 cm from tip to end of tube) to the empty inktube (6.5 cm) with packaging tape for a total of 16.5 cm (without toothpick). (tape no more than two layers because it won't be able to slide through the namae body) Add toothpick to the end of the empty rsvp inktube. Make sure it's long enough to adjust little by little later.

    Toothpick: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03248.jpg

7.) Wrap maybe 4-7 layers of packaging tape (MUST BE packaging tape; scotch tape will not be strong enough to counter the force of your writing) near the end of the mp mechanism. (Start on the VERY end of where the ink tube section begins. DO NOT tape the actual clicker part that connects to the tube.) It should, however, have a very slight width. This width may vary among spinners, but mine is about .3 cm. (yes, it's that important xD) It varies because different spinners may want the writing part of the pen or out or in. My width maximizes the writing part all the way out, so if you like that, follow my width.
    Area: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03249.jpg

8.) Next, take off both caps off the namae body. After removing the 'mp end' cap of the namae body, slip in the mp mechanism (toothpick end first) from the front end. The entire mechanism should go through all the holes. It may seem stuck when it reaches the connection part; slowly but surely, it will go in (if you put less than 2 layers of tape) with very slight force.
    http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03251.jpg

9.) Re-cap the FRONT namae cap ALL THE WAY and make sure the tip comes out the signo end. Remove the cap once more, and make sure the tape is still in the SAME POSITION. If it has slipped out of place, you need to re-do step 7 but this time with a longer width, and slowly minimizing/cutting that width to your liking. (use an x-acto knife or something sharp)
    Cutting: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03252.jpg

10.) Take your HGG back plug and stuff it into the ‘back namae cap’ (which is OFF the namae body right now). Make sure it’s in all the way and doesn’t fall out by itself. It should fit somewhat ‘snuggly’.

11.) Wrap about [preferably] 2.5 (2-3) layers of any tape around the back cap. This is to prevent the back namae cap from flying off when spinning, but still allow the cap to move up and down to work the mechanism.

12.) Tootpick adjusting: This step may take a while, but it’s not all that hard. Put the namae back cap on (it should be stopped by the protruding toothpick). Obviously, it is too long, so cut the toothpick little by little until the namae back cap can move up and down yet stay holding on to the back plug. If the back cap keeps falling off and enough tape is added to keep it on but the mechanism won’t work, try taking off half a layer of tape. If that doesn’t work, twist the back cap little by little, and test if the mechanism works before twisting again.
    Adujsting: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03256.jpg

13.) Insert some lead by removing the front end of the mp (just pull it out gently), recap, and you’re DONE!
    FINAL: http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n259/do...oy/DSC03257.jpg

    Spoiler:
Oh yea, the method for adding lead is pretty important too.

    -------------------------------------------------

    Pros:
-What can I say? It’s an MP! tongue.gif
-All parts can be bought IN AMERICA! (thanks to daiso!)
    -Spins like a normal Namae.
-Semi-adjustable in length. (for personal liking)
    -Custom color scheme. (grips)

    Cons:
-Costs a lot. (mostly because of PhD multi)
-Too much ‘little adjusting’ here and there.
    -Not able to add inserts.
    -Too time consuming? unsure.gif

    -------------------------------------------------

    Q&A:

Q: The back cap keeps falling off, and when I add more tape to keep it on, the mechanism won’t work. What can I do to make it work?
A: Try taking off maybe half a layer of tape. If it still doesn’t work, twist the back cap little by little, and test if the mechanism works before twisting again. (if that makes sense xD)

Q: What do you mean by the ‘mp end’?
A: The ‘mp end’ is the namae cap with the ‘taped’ signo (2-3 layers). This is to prevent the signo from flying out when clicking the mechanism. The ‘mp end’ cap should be put in the FRONT of the namae body. In the tutorial, the cap with the red sailors will be the ‘mp end’ cap.

Q: How do you remove the HGG backplug from the HGG barrel?
A: First, strip the HGG/old HGR of everything. (tip, ink, cap) Then, take a full rsvp inktube and slip it through the HGG/old HGR barrel. Push, and the backplug should sort of 'click' out of place. From there, you can use your fingers or tweezers to pull the rest of the backplug out.

    Q: That's not very short of a tutorial? mellow.gif
A: I'm sorry, but this is my first tutorial, and I didn't want to miss anything! >"<

Q: Why is the Q&A so short?
A: Ahh! I'm sorry again! It's my first tutorial, and not really experienced; so please, ask more questions! :]

I actually will be thinking of making this mod
Out of all the new mods, this might be one of the best ones along with Guitrum's G3 mod

Oh, very cool. Sadly, the only parts I'm missing are the namae back cap and a toothpick. dry.gif
I'll make it once I get those. thumb.gif

well, i'm not sure if this works, but i think if you put the signo tip on the namae back cap and put that in the cap and attached to mechanism somehow that would work really well...i'm too lazy to try though, sorry..lol

Haha im not really sure what you mean, but do you mean retracting the tip only (like in a retractable comssa mod)?
That I've considered, but it didnt' look too nice because the namae back cap isn't made the same as the comssa cap. The signo tip would wobble a bit. :[
