I myself am going for Education field (is it a "field"?),

im hoping that my ps skills will be good enough that i can last a whole class, distract the students while i teach and chew them out for not paying attention later on biggrin.gif

Ok, well, this thread did not have too much discussion, so here are some points to get you started:

    * List whether you are in high school, college/university, in the workplace (full-time), etc.
    * What is your intended/current career?
    * How did you become interested in your intended/current career? (If you are unsure of an exact career, what field would you like to enter? What would you enjoy majoring in?)
    * Is your intended/current career popular within your family?
    * Does your family support your career choice? (If you haven't asked them yet, do you think they would support your choice?)
    * Etc. Maybe there is something else you would like to ask of others, because this thread can also help members find others with similar career aspirations.
If you had already posted your career, please post again but keep the above in mind, thanks.

I'm currently in a 6 monthly career of circus juggling. I became interested in it earlier this year and put in a lot (a LOT!) of practice and with a bit of good fortune found myself doing the job! I would also like to make a career in music, perhaps first starting with piano tutition but ideally becoming a professional pianist or (even better), composer. The job can be quite bad however, as it is only April - October and you either have to save up quite a bit in this time to survive the winter or work freelance over winter (what I'm doing now) which is not easy.

I don't think my family really care about my career choice. I am now too old for them to tell me what to do, although, I would not have listened had they have told me what to do at any stage in my life! You live your life for you and not for someone else [1]!

[1] Until you find yourself in a couple and this rule streches somewhat.

I'm in High school now, and once I finish it in the end of this year I, like everyone, will join the army. I have a specific Military Intelligence unit in mind I hope to join...after the 3-4 years of service I play on studying CS, either here or abroad, it's a bit too early to decide where because I don't know what my financial state will be by then.
Learning CS, becoming a programmer....hopefully in a computer gaming company, but I'm keeping my mind open. All I know for sure is that I want to learn CS. I started a bit a year ago and it was really fun, I really felt like I could do it for a living. I also watched documentaries on how games are made and saw how programmers work, seems like a lot of fun to me.
My family doesn't mind. They think it's a great and as good as a choice as any, and mostly care about the fact that I go study it at a University.

    So yeah, that's it.

I'm in high school now, and in 2~3 years, I'll have to join the army... I still have no idea which unit will I be in, but I hope something within the Military Intelligence unit. After 3 years in there, my current hopes are moving to Holland I believe (since most of my family is there, and well, to be honest, living in a country where you find yourself in a war every few years isn't quite fun as one might think. About studying and working- I hope to work in something music related. I'm not quite sure exactly in which area, but that's the basic idea I guess. I just haven't really thought about it deeply...
about my family- they like the idea of me working/ studying music, so I guess they're ok with my plans..~

but I still have a few years thinking about it ^^"

Well right now I'm in High School and I look to be graduating 1 semester early (YAY!) so pretty much in next December (1 year T_T). So after that I think I'm going to take a break for a bit from school and just kinda look at my options, I may go into a catering business with my brother (he's graduating culinary school in January) but I'm not sure how that is going to work out. What I really hope to do is go with my true passion of electronics and go to an electricians trade school. Yea I'm not sure really, I figure my parents will just be happy if I get a job.

Because they got conscription in Finland. Every male resident has to serve the nation. Thought it was like that as well in Isreal.

Right now I'm a Junior (third year) Biology Major at Siena College (near Albany, NY).

The original plan was to head off to Medical School after getting my BS in Biology, but I don't think being a physician is for me anymore. So I'm gonna head off to Graduate School for Ecology after this.

I'm not sure where I'll be working, but probably not in the US. Most likely I'll move to South Africa (my family is from there) and work for a big game reserve, helping out with research or trends over time. If not, I'll be getting a PhD then do independant research and be a university professor in the US for ecology or general biology.

    * List whether you are in high school, college/university, in the workplace (full-time), etc.

    High School

    * What is your intended/current career?

Well, my dream would be to do science research in the area of drugs [legal/illegal] and their effects on the body and brain. I think it's interesting how certain substances can cause such profound changes in the human psyche, for better or for worse. It's very interesting to me. I want to find flaws in medicine, and keep as many people as I can safe and healthy.
But, back to reality, medical research doesn't pay the bills. So I guess maybe i'll figure out something else

    * How did you become interested in your intended/current career? (If you are unsure of an exact career, what field would you like to enter? What would you enjoy majoring in?)

I'd like to major in Biology or Chemisty.
I became interested via watching those around me, observing, researching, experience.

    * Is your intended/current career popular within your family?

    No.

    * Does your family support your career choice? (If you haven't asked them yet, do you think they would support your choice?)

No. xD They told me there is no way I am even getting into college. xD

    * Etc. Maybe there is something else you would like to ask of others, because this thread can also help members find others with similar career aspirations.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I live by this quote:
"We accept the love we think we deserve."

    * List whether you are in high school, college/university, in the workplace (full-time), etc.

    Senior High School Second Grade.

    * What is your intended/current career?

Military Doctor/Civilian Doctor (←It means both)

    * How did you become interested in your intended/current career? (If you are unsure of an exact career, what field would you like to enter? What would you enjoy majoring in?)

I always wanted to be a Doctor when I grow up ever since I finished pre-school. Back then, I thought doctors were cool and gets paid a lot.
However, after I entered Senior High, I noticed how much Japan is suffering from lack of Doctors (In each type of Doctors. There are like Surgeons, and Pharmacist and things. But there are way too many type of these field, so much that we have too less Doctors in each field). I first wanted to go to Yale University or Harvard, but I changed my mind and decided to become Military Doctor (because to become military doctor, I have to go to Japan Self-Defense Medical School, which pay you for being educated.), and work there in the Self-Defense Medical School Hospital. This can allow me to look at civilian patients as well as go to war and help the injured (Although Japan don't go to war very much). If found out that becoming Military Doctor = saving more people.
Of course, if i find a enemy guy in pain, I might want to save them. I just want to save people. They got family (with some exception). I would hate it if someone kills one of my family member, but who can you blame when it's in war? You can't. If you country lose, then even if you blame the other country, nothing would happen, and it wont bring back the life that was already taken away.
Of course there are many people in Japan suffering from a disease that they never deserved. There are people who have cancer received from their ancestors. Who do they have to blame? No one. They can't just blame the ancestors. I want to save them too.
Although, there are times I can't save people. But it's better than doing nothing.

    * Is your intended/current career popular within your family?

Yes, but no one is a doctor. My father works for Olympus in the Endoscope though. He used to be the designer, but these days, he became the boss and controls other guys.

    * Does your family support your career choice? (If you haven't asked them yet, do you think they would support your choice?)

    Yes.

    * Etc. Maybe there is something else you would like to ask of others, because this thread can also help members find others with similar career aspirations.

    None.

    * What is your intended/current career?

computer researcher, either in industry (preferred) or academia

    * How did you become interested in your intended/current career? (If you are unsure of an exact career, what field would you like to enter? What would you enjoy majoring in?)

I'm interested in database because of the first jobs I had was at a large company and their use of databases was really inefficient so this motivates me to develop good database technology that's efficient for companies.

after that I became interested in developping databases for online games, and got involved in online game research.

    * Is your intended/current career popular within your family?

my father is a programmer. I'm been in contact with computers from an early age.

    * Does your family support your career choice? (If you haven't asked them yet, do you think they would support your choice?)

my family supports me, although I don't necessarily agree with the university selection. my father wants me to go to MIT and Stanford and the like, but to me, it's more important whether the university has a strong program and strong profs in my domain. For instance, if these top schools don't have any reputation in the field of online gaming, it's not very useful for me.

    * Etc. Maybe there is something else you would like to ask of others, because this thread can also help members find others with similar career aspirations.

I feel like I am going to fail in life, I have no idea what I want to do but everyone else around me seems to know what they are going to do. Its my last year in highschool to.

I have some experience in scriptwriting; I've managed to sell one script so far. Currently writing short stories.

    Editing:
I enjoy editing, it's something I have experience in and a skill I'm willing to improve on.

    Spoiler:
My friend is way good at guitar and has taught himself drums and is also good with piano. so I'm he won't just be like i can do better than that so i don't want your help
so i wouldn't mind a career in music. but if all else fails i really liked all the different dissections that i have done in science and wouldn't mind a surgical position or chemistry is really interesting to me also
