For those of you who are very well adept at doing MA and RA, do you normally do them with the top fingers stretched out or curled in? Or can you do both on command?

Normally, it would look good if you curled in finger 1 when doing MA > Pass Rev 23-12 > Twisted Sonic Rev 12-23

But it would look good if you stretched out finger 1 when doing MA > Pass 23-34 > Charge Rev 34

And then for the case of RA, it seems most people do it outstretched simply because of habit. I have heard spinners like Dopamine from JEB can only do RA with 12 curled in.

As for me, I normally do both MA and RA with the fingers outstretched. I have to concentrate if I want to curl them in. It usually takes a little more time to curl the fingers in, for some reason. How about you guys?

I'm not that good at Fingerarounds (tongue.gif) but I always do them with the fingers above curled. Fingerarounds Reverse are done with the fingers stretched out.

In the middle of a combo my finger is curled. Its like the finger automatically snaps to the curled position. If I do a MA by itself I can do it either way.

Fingers streched out for both for me.

I also recall Prince Conor (from UPSB) writing something on this. He also said he used his fingers streched out and recommended not to tuck them in.

I do it stretched out because it gives me the option to do a Passaround when i'm freestyling

I like doing fingerarounds with my fingers stretched out. It's more visually appealing. With fingers tucked in, it looks like you're clawing at something and that just looks ugly.

Around tricks are meant to be sexy. I <3 arounds.

I can do middle around finger tucked in or outstretched and i can only go ring around with finger tucked in. I cant link ringaround though T.T

i can do these arounds with almost any finger movement.

i can do both middlearound and middlearound reverse with index curled or not, depending on whether i want to look like fratleym or bonkura. laugh.gif

i can ringaround and reverse ringaround with both index and middle streched out, index curled in and middle streched out, middle curled in and index streched out and both index and middle curled in.

it's quite fun to mess with these finger positions. laugh.gif

finger movement makes tricks look different and flow differently.

for example, when you do neosonic 23-TF > FL TA rev with index curled in, it looks awesome. biggrin.gif

mid arounds are no probs, it all depends on what i'm linking it to, but its usually outstretched

ringarounds are almost impossible to do with fingers in....

i tried VERY hard to learn with fingers out stretched and it has payed off big time!

    i only wish i could do a ringaround 34-34 > pass rev 34-23 well

That's where you try and learn to do RingAround with curled in middle. smile.gif

i can only do my ra's and ma's with my fingers curled in. its how i learned it and i just cant seem to break the habit

been practicing and i can do ma's with my fingers out, and can get the ra sometimes, its just so difficult for me at the moment

I don't use arounds very often, but I do my MAs with my fingers stretched out and my IAs with 2 curled. Should be the other way around imo.

I do the same as Sketching, i find it hard to get the fingers straightened to be honest.
