I just started pen spinning a few days ago and I would like to know if I am doing the fundamentals right and advice on what I could do better to improve. Any help would be very much appreciated.

a bit of advice on the charge: try not to move your middle finger as much, it will help you hold it for longer

Yesh you are, but work on teh sonic a lil bit so it looks more circular. wink.gif

And thats not a bad fingerpass, and if you do wanna master it, it's gonna be reallllly hard ohmy.gif

Good job for a newcomer you are picking up well. I suggest for the sonic, you learn it at the 34 -23 slot. Then move on to the 23-12 slot. If you do it this way, you will be able to do sonic rise better. This helped me a lot and I hope it helps you. smile.gif

My only optional advice, not saying im an amazing pen spinner, im just like you; But try dishing out a couple bucks to mod or purchase a modded pen. I bought a pack of RSVPs (I saw you were from the US, so it shouldnt be a problem) at staples for $3.49. Took me about 10 minutes to make a RSVP V1, couldnt find a drill. It feels a lot better and spins a lot easier then what youre probably using. or if you want to dish out a couple extra bucks you could by the materials to make an RSVP MX, even better then what i have
    Just IMO though.

    Hmmm, nice for a beginner...
About the charge: I think that you need to try to do the continuos charge, not a single one. Then the motion will be much better...(it will be better both when you do many continiuos charge and when you just do a single charge)
About the sonic: I can see that you are really doing well, but I am not sure if you use or don't use the pressure method... If you use it, then I recommend you to try it without the pressure method... And BTW you lift your hand when you do the Sonic, and I think the Sonic should be done without lifting it... The lift probably makes the Sonic easier to do, but you need only more force pushing the pen, and you will be able to do it without the lift.
About fingerpass: I can see you learned how the pen moves, but if you want to master the trick, you need to practice much more, so the fingerpass is much faster than that...

yea, something to your sonic, do the push of your charge motion ... much more useful for combos later ...
