General Discussion / Practice time vs. Comprehension

Is there a significant difference between 6 hours of spamming in classes, vs. a 2 hour session of spinning at the computer where your actually focusing on your tricks?

This could be very significant in how much you really think you "practice" pen spinning each week.....

personally, If I'm by myself without distractions and simply focusing on my spinning, I learn tricks far faster than when I'm flipping back and forth between my school work and spinning.

The only exception to this for me would be If I'm learning a trick that simply requires "learned flexibility" such as inverse sonic 34-23, where you just need to repeat it over and over so that your fingers adjust to the motion.

    imo:
8hours of school (1 and 1/3rd days)=1 hour of focused spinning.

I find that when I'm actually trying to learn a new trick, I need to concentrate hard, and I can usually learn pretty fast. But once I have the trick, but haven't really mastered it yet, I practice in class because then it's just a matter of consistency. Basically, I concentrate to learn a trick and it's concept, but I don't concentrate to master it.

I think 2 hours of focused spinning is more productive if you wanna learn a new trick.

By spinning in class you mean just casual spinning and just freestlying right?

Cause i doubt you can learn much from that. If i were to practice a new trick i'll prefer focusing on it that doing it in class.

For smoothening combos.. maybe doing it it class might help.. i dunno..

I was gonna vote for the school one, but I clicked the wrong one. lol

I usually come up with the new stuff at school... and practice it at home.

I think focusing on tricks for 2 hours is more beneficial than 6 hours of spamming
I've been doing mindless freestyling at school for a while...
I think it turned me into a twisted sonic spammer dry.gif

But any spinning is better than nothing smile.gif

School works better for me considering 90% of the time at school is wasted... 9% of the time, I'm teaching someone a TA Reverse, and the last 1% of the time is actually sorta productive...

Btw, my school is supposed to be #81 in the nation... >.>

I spin as intensly (rather unconcentrated, but w/e :P) in front of the computer as during class. If I'd just sit in my bed and spin for 2h, it would give more than 6h spent spinning unfocused though.

Usually spend the most time spinning in school, I don't really spin much at home though.

I would have more benefit from 6 hours of spinning at school... I mostly go for perfection anyway and randomly try things that pop up in my head.

But alas, I mostly spin for 30 minutes a day, so it doesn't really matter anyway.
