Alright so i've been getting a lot of questions on how i make the strips and stuff on my mx's which i'll be
calling my modified Mx's, Mx� because its simply 2 Mx's put together.
I really like this better then a regular MX because you can have the white colors on each side
like a comssa white effect when spinning. Also it is balanced, Heavier, and looks a lot better then a regular Mx. (i think)
The only thing is that it costs twice as much as an Mx.
This is what it looks like:
Add ons:
-Can Add 1 extra tip in the front (total of 3 hgg tips) for more balance.
-Can add more "rings/stripes"
-Can add extra anyball grip in front and back of Pen
So lets get started.

I also put 3 hgg tips on mine cuz i think it balances out a bit more
i put in an extra black strip so that the grip reaches the end of the tip and i do the same for the cap strips.
that is just an option if you'd like to do that as well.

Its a great mod, but i have no use for it because i think the normal mx itself is great as it is. And it uses too much stuff in my opinion, just to make it balanced. But it depends on the person in the end iguess...

Thats not the point though. A KT uses that many expensive pens for a good reason. This pen (no offense) uses twice as much as pens as a normal mx, just to make it balanced, whereas there are many other less expensive ways to make an MX balanced. -

It's not just for more balance. This mod also adds a little bit of length and plenty more weight. If I ever find myself with an excess of Hybrid Gel Grips, I'll try this mod out.

Actually, it doesn't make much more weight, to tell you the truth.
I made one and I still can't feel the difference between a regular MX and this one...It sure does give a cool spinning effect, though. -

alright people, if you dont like it then dont make it.
i like it a lot better then a normal mx, and yes thats kinda why i made it...just so there
can be white and white for a nice spinning effect. personally i think its a great pen and
looks very nice. thats why it costs so much. you done need 2 rsvps, i just put that in cuz i like the stips and you dont need the profile grip if you really dont want to. if it cost is to much...there is nothing we can do about it lol. dont make it then.
i just wanted to share this with you guys since you like my stips so well. thought i would show you the whole thing. -

yeah i started to use signos for my mx's now cuz its to hard for me to find hgg tips(when i use only one
hgg). And ya it spens well with the signo but i really like to have the same look as a normal mx that spins
just as well.

nice variation on the MX. I'm not going to complain about the cost. its really not all that much compared to quite a few pens. Especially compared to my RSVP N-Type(my personal mod) which is a 17$ MX variation. so not shabby.

Use a metal file or sandpaper if you dont have a file.

ah nice
ok so like when you take off the grip of an rsvp...its not so smooth...and if you try to put an hgg grip over it...
there will be an indent. So to fix that...you need to shave down the cone part of the rsvp so its smooth and tube like.
then just wrap tape around it. -

@ Tim: Ya only for the rings but i usually use the rsvp grips for another MX instead of throwing them away because really..ur only using just the bulge...its still good grip to use for other things.

Very Nice wtE...and sorry but thats the thing, i dont want ppl having the same exact pen as mine. This is my favorite pen and i spent a long ass time making it...so i'm not going to post the insert.
I kinda changed mine a bit so it looks better? check it
And Sabertrail...ya the White HGG grip goes right in...i didn't have any trouble...and the back grip is for an an AnyBall pen. you can use part
of the rsvp grip if you want. -

This seems like a very nice mod. I would definitely make one if I had an Anyball.
I like how you balanced out the MX, added weight, length, and the array of color combinations (with the grip rings)... and all while maintaining (if not improving) the good looks of the MX. Very Cool
On the down side, yes...you doubled the cost, but if the pen spins better, and looks as cool as it seems...then I'm sure it's worth it. And I'm guessing that you can substitute the Anyball grip with well cut rings from the black RSVP grip? So that would cut down on some cost.
Also, from the picture, it looks like the pen is vulnerable to breakage? If you don't place the cap past the junction of the back cap (the red piece in your pen), I'm afraid the screw part of the RSVP gets very vulnerable if you drop your pen on solid concrete. I know that has happened to me with my RSVP MX before I fixed it.
Other than that, the pen looks solid.

lol thanks man, ya i like it a lot too.
i loved the look of the mx that you made but i just couldn't spin with it as well as my other pens.
so i decided to do somthing about it and this is what i got. tried to stick with the nice mx's looks with
a better feel. yahh it does cost twice as much but its well worth it for spinning.
not sure about the screw part of the back cap tho. ya i've dropped it a lot and it hasn't broken yet...the only thing
that breaks on it is the tips...i would just need to super glue them back on top of each other. but ya it is vulnerable just having
the long cap only to the junction, but its an easy fix if it happens.

Instead of the superglue (which makes the pen fragile) try teflon tape (the white plumbing tape). It holds the tips on really well and if it should pop off it only needs to be screwed in again.

Teflon tape doesn't work too well when you put the second HGG Tip on the first one.... its only good for putting it on to the plastic part.

cut two sections off of the anyball grip
then stuff it in the rsvp cap just like the normal rsvp grip sticking into the cap.
Make it so that it doesn't get distorted. Make sure its right so it looks nice.

try not to use the bigger sections of the anyball grip.

ya ur supposed to fold it a bit when you put it in....it folds just like when you put a normal rsvp grip in the cap, its just harder cuz its longer -

I just wondered, what do you think by replacing the HGG K116/K118 Metal Tip withthe newer, more round shaped, a litle heavier K186 Metal Tip, twice, and the HGG-Grip with The G2-Grip, that is nearly one and a half times as heavy?
One of my normal MX-Versions has the G2-Grip and the K186 Metal Tip, and works very fine for me in Balance...
And looks quite aesthetic...

if the grip does not cover the 3 trips then ur problem might be that:
if your using teflon tape to hold the tips on the rsvp barrol then dont use to much because it makes the pen even longer. try to use little
if you are using superglue or whatever to hold on the tips...try to use a good amount cuz the hgg grip will not cover the 3 tips otherwise
and if you have just a little gap, maybe if its like a half a tip away from the next, just try to stretch the rsvp grip a bit.
it stretches so dont worry, but remember do not over do it cuz it doesn't look as nice with the grips covering the front tip. -

of corse you can.
the hgg grip is just lil longer than the rsvp grip...all you do is cut off the "ring" of the rsvp grip...then get another rsvp grip and cut off the ring on that one. then cut it about maybe a lil under a cm.
use tweezers to stick that pieace all the way down the cap.
then stick the other rsvp grip in it. -

when TEK first got the idea and posted the tutorial around october, his first tutorial said to use anyball/profile grips for the front and the cap. But when he revised his tutorial he said to use the R.S.V.P grip and make rings of that grip. Im thinking of making this pen but from the people who have made this which is better to use?

ok sorry, i havn't been up to date on this thread lol.
but,
there is a track to hold the cap on better with the stripes.
i figured this out after making the tutorial, when you make the stripes to go into the rsvp cap. super glue
all of the stripes together, so like in mine it goes black red white then black again. usually for the stripes in the back, there is not enough
of the buldge part of the rsvp grip so you need to cut whats left if you understand. that workes fine but when you put on the rsvp cap, its not so tight.
the trick is, the stripes Black, red, white, black. in the last black stripe you use, make sure its the buldge part of the rsvp and not just a cut from whats left.
idk y but that works and hold on the cap on to the pen very well. i noticed that cuz my newer ones would come off so easily but my older ones stayed on.
but anyways, try that if you want to use the stripes in the cap.
you can use anyballs if you want too, they work fine and holds the cap on very well -

Yeah. The tips make the spinning slightly defferent. I just made one with 1 Signo tip instead of 3 HGG tips. I compared it to my MX^2 with 3 tips and it balances the same, but the spinning feels different from the real one. Overall a Signo tip is a suitable substitute for this mod.

I think TEK used the scotch tape to secure the HGG grip onto the RSVP body, so the grip isn't loose.
I remember Kam saying to push the cap past the RSVP backcap, it looks better when you don't do it, but the pen is more vulnerable to breaking. You probably can push the cap past the backcap, but TEK probably doesn't for visual appeal. -

I don't think the extra RSVP grip in the stripes is for balance, the RSVP MX is already back heavy, with 2 HGG tips in the front it's still a little bit back heavy. The RSVP grip in the back would make it more back heavy. -

thanks for your questions by the way.
First: the reason why i put the scotch tape is because what you do the the mx^2 that you do not do with the mx is the shaving part of the rsvp cone(tip). the cont on the normal MX is what holds the grip on so well. I shaved down the RSVP cone in step 3 of the tutorial. This makes it so the grip does not have any bulges in the grip for visual appeal. But with this...it always makes the hgg loose on the rsvp body when doing tricks such as wipers. the scotch tape makes the rsvp grap area more ticker witch holds the hgg grip tight so that it does not slip off. also the scotch tip on the upper tip area is to hold everything stable and to have the same thickness as the bottom.
Second: The grip in the cap is for the stripes. If you have already made this mod, you will know that after super gluing the stripes together and putting it in to the cap, they seem to fall out quickly when
pulling out the rest of the rsvp. The grip stuck in the middle of the rings and grip in the cap its to hold the rings to the grip so when you take off the cap to write, the rings do not come out of the cap as well.
Last: I have never experienced the breakage of the back cap off the rsvp body so in my case, i dont think it is a problem to fix. but if you want a solution to this, just cuz the grip(s) in the rsvp cap shorter the normal so that there is room for the rsvp if you understand.

here in philippines we have lots of HGGs...all colors. but too bad the store near our place only sell white hggs. but they have SO many HGGs. i can make lots of MX^2 if we have RSVP here in Philippines....

You can use any tape because all you're doing is thickening the front of the RSVP.

but iamk34n3 was correct
you can use any type of tape...if it thickens the rsvp barrel so that the hgg grip does slip off easily...then its usable. -

ive used them here...
you can see they are a bit bigger then normal rsvp grips but they work just as well.

I Made one except i used a signo tip instead of three hggs to balence it.

There was a discussion about this once, and I believe TEK stated that a signo-tipped RSVP MX^2 is not the same as a three HGG tipped RSVP MX^2. It's something about the length and weight distribution...

yeah, you're right
the length of a signo tipped mx^2 would be shorter
and the signo tipped mx^2 might have a bit more momentum, at least on the tip side, cause a signo tip replacing 3 hgg tips concentrates the weight into 1 tip rather than spreading that 1.8-1.9 g out among 3 tips -

My friend had an MX² yesterday and gave it to me for a few spins... first impression - i simply love it
. Ordered some hgg's and rsvp's today, not a very cheap pen but definately worth the price.
Just wanted to ask about the insert. Whats the exact size? original MX ones would still fit fine or i'll need to make new ones? ty

Hey, I was thinking of making this mod, except when I went to get some HGG's, the only colors I could get were White, Gold, Silver and Bronze.. only 1 pack too. as for RSVP's I have a Dark Green, Sky Blue, Pink, Dark Blue, Red and Black ones.

You can make a white, skyblue, and black one, or a gold, silver, black on, a black, red, and white one. Those are combinations TEK himself made as well. You can make a bunch of good combinations with those colors. -

Spread the glue on paper, use a paperclip/toothpick.
dab your paperclip/toothpick in the glue, and put it a top the ring, and connect it to another ring.

Because i dont think 2 rings = half of it
