Retractable Mod

Well I finally got around to getting pictures of this mod for the tutorial. This mod is actually really simple, just a pain in the butt to make. It works exactly like a Bic Click on the inside, with the Zebra parts on the outside.

Credits to K4S to making the ZT

Warning! Due to the sharp parts and the hammer >_> You need to be very careful when making this mod. I have cut myself making this. I am not held responsible for any injuries that may occur. Make this at your own risk!

    Parts List:
    2 Zebra Telescopic Pens
    2 Signos
    1 Bic Click
    1 RSVP Ink
    Various Grips of your choice

    Tools List
    Tape
    Xacto
    Screwdriver
    Hammer (YES A HAMMER!)

    Tutorial:

    1. Gather Your Parts.

    2. Disassemble the Zebra Telescopic Pens

Note: Save the clear barrel part from inside the ZT (I used the Other Bic Pen and it didn't work as well. The Clear barrel part gets the link between the 2 ZT bodies tighter and holds better, which is important because of the retractable part.)

    3. Disassemble the Bic Click and take the front tip, wrap some tape around the part that goes inside the barrel to get a snug fit, and put it into the BACK of the ZT. (The part w/o the threads)

    4. Cut the front tip about where I did. (This will probably need to be adjusted due to the variations of ink and how you actually build it.)

    5. Get the rear clicker part of the Bic Click and shave down the ridge till its all smooth. (I didn't do it in the picture... sorry) And slip it into the back of the other ZT barrel. (The part w/o the threads)

    6. Get a Signo tip and one of the ZT slider pieces. Place the Signo tip on the part of the slider where there are threads. (Here's where the hammer comes in...) Tap the Signo tip down into the slider piece. BE GENTLE! If you tap too hard it will pop out the black piece. The objective of this is to break the glue a enough to allow the black thread part to slide down to allow the signo tip to fit in. The part where the threads are, are needed to allow the clicking on the back and to guide the ink through to the tip. If the Signo tip slides a little too much, wrap a little bit of tape around it and tap it in, cleaning up any excess tape.

Do this to the other one also.

    7. Adjust the ink without the slider parts on and test fit the barrel parts together. You may have to use a longer spring or a stronger one to allow for easier clicking. If the spring isn't strong enough then you may have to pull slightly to release for the second click...

    8. Put the clips on and slide the slider parts back on. (This has to be THE HARDEST part of the entire pen. I love the pen, but I swear this part sucks so much, because I am so terrible with putting them on.) Tip: If you happen to have some lubricant such as silicone spray, you can use that on the Clicker side to allow easier clicking.

Note: You may have to clean out the holes where the tabs fit in to allow you to actually put the ZT slider part on.

    9. Grip it the way you like and have some fun!

Although this pen is heavy, I LOVE spinning this pen. When you have the pen retracted and the pieces slid out, you won't be able to write. Its not that long when its closed. Its slightly longer because of the tips but its actually really comfortable. As for specs I don't have a scale, but by estimate i would have to say heavier than KT. In its closed state its just slightly shorter than a comssa mod, and extended is about an inch longer than a metallic comssa.
    Have fun!

I don't like the grippy feel, so i put the CX part on the grip which maintains the look of having the grip there, without the grippy feel.

i dun get the part where the signo go in does it go completely around the black hole thing? or half way?

The black threaded part doesn't go into the tip, the tip rests around it, and is held there by the fact that if you do it right the black part wont move too much and its a snug fit in the metal part.

can you clarify steps 7-8. I'm confused on getting the pen to click and by the "clips" do you mean the gold peices that curve a little that were on the sliver barrel originally?
