- 2 x black ColorTwin
- 2 x Dr Grip inkpen tip
- 1x Dr Grip grip
You mod the pen like a Dr. KT, except you use parts of the Dr. Grip grip instead of Sailor Gel grip, and I think tips from a Dr Grip gelpen...
Black KT with Dr Grip grip

I believe Bonkura just snipped off the points on the Dr. Grip tips used for a regular Dr. KT.

so all u do is add Dr. grip grips?
nuthing else
hmm looks kool too

OKAY recently got my new pens and when i make a mod i usually try to make it exactly like the original creator did so going on that:
1. A bonkura kt is basically just a normal DR KT but with DR. grip grips instead of sailor gel grips and black colortwins instead of keityo sign pens right?
2. uhh i remember in some other topic that they said you should use the DR GRIP pen tips instead of the usual mechanical pencil ones for a bonkura kt, but does it really matter since i have the mechanical pencil ones?
okay thats it. thanks in advance. -
Date: Sat, Dec 29 2007 23:24:00
1. A 'Bonkura KT' is a stupid (imo) name for something that's popped up in the last few months. It's a normally made KT with specific colours\pens used for the body and caps that bonkura used to use.
2. Mechanical pencil tips are the way to go. The pen ones are certainly an option, but they don't weigh the same and don't look as cool. Plus, you can't stab people with the pen tips, which defeats the purpose of having a KT. =P. -
Date: Sat, Dec 29 2007 23:46:52
i know the size of the grips are in the wiki, but i'm asking a majority of the people what size they use since i keep reading about people and how they change the size of the grips on their ballsign mods.

Edit: threads merged and cleaned up. Ask questions about a specific pen mod in any existing threads on that subject.

uhh sketching, you kinda messed up, one of my questions was for the ballsign mod grips and you put it in here, the bonkura Kt topic instead.
is it possible to delete a post? -
Date: Sun, Dec 30 2007 01:39:07
I already moved the Ballsign questions to the Ballsign mod thread.

Is the Black Bonkura KT a good pen to spin? Can someone list me the pros and cons of it?
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 00:47:25
Assumed pros/cons (since I have yet to spin one )
Pros:
Heavy on the ends - allows for more momentum
Softer body - the mod is not as slick as if it was using a harder plastic body
Looks good - it's simple look appeals to some spinners who do not care for a lot of different colors on their mods
Cons:
Heavy on the ends - not everyone likes a lot of weight to their mods
Softer body - some spinners do not like the stickier feel of softer-plsatic bodies
Looks bad - not using the Sailor Innovation grips of the original Dr. KT limits the amount of color customization for the spinners who like having a lot of options. Somewhat offset by the options of Colortwin cap colors, but still not allowing the amount of variation available in using multiple grip colors together on one cap
Expensive - the Dr. Grip tips (normally) require the purchase of 2 Dr. Grip pens, not a cheap buy -
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 17:33:05
Can you actually see the Dr.Grip grip when you're spinning it? Cause I would imagine it being looking quite cool if you can.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 17:56:18
I have an a;; black bictory made like this and when I try to make a video of me spinning it is hard to see in my opinion.
-
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 17:59:58
Oh... So The black Bonkura KT won't look that good when spun right?
Darkeh is it possible that I can see you're video when you spun your all black BICtory? -
Date: Sun, Jan 6 2008 18:22:52
Err, well I was trying to make a vidoe for a collab, I previewed it on the camera and it was hard to see so I deleted it and changed the grips.

no, Any type of KT's are bad for beginners, since they dont help build finger dexterity. A good beginner mod would be a BICtory, or an MX. -

Does the comssa body fit into the caps?
Is this any different from the normal KT... spinning wise? -

not it doesnt, the black caps on the KT are just Keityo. It'll take a little bit of tape to get them to fit on the comSSa body.
Its actually quite different, there's much more momentum to it, it takes a bit of practice to get used to it, but once you do its golden. -
Date: Wed, Jan 9 2008 05:25:11
So if you buy one Dr. Grip grip... would that be enough for one KT?
-
Date: Wed, Jan 9 2008 06:24:37
You need two metal Dr. Grip tips...so only having one Dr. Grip tip would result in a REALLY off-balance pen mod.
Edit: oh wait, one Dr. Grip grip. If you already have the tips, then you should only need one grip. Yeah. -
Date: Fri, Jan 11 2008 01:16:07
What part & how much of the grip is cut?
Is it that much heavier than a normal KT?
How would Dr. Grip pen tips affect the pen if used in place of Dr. Grip pencil tips? -
Date: Fri, Jan 11 2008 02:07:15
Is it just me or is the pencil cheaper than the pen.
-
Date: Thu, Mar 20 2008 19:11:24
This is a really cool mod but its so expensive. I looked up the cost on penwish and comes up to about $20 + shipping. I need to get a job

I have a few questions about bonkura kt:
-Does the tips hurts fingers while spinning?
-Can infinity be done with it?
-After 3 weeks of MX can I safely switch to kt without compromising my skills?
Thanks -
Date: Sun, Apr 27 2008 23:47:45
The tips will definitely hurt your fingers, hands, etc. if you drop your KT.
Infinity can be done with it.
You might need some time to get used to the difference in weight since an MX is a lot lighter than a KT, but after some time and practice, you'll get used to it. -

You will become a better spinner if you learn tricks with a lighter pen than a KT like an MX. -

Just wondering, is there anything that could replace the color twins? Preferably black, 'cus it's cool.

you can get the colortwins in black. just look on penwish. Or you could get two keichou's, and just use their caps, depends on what you want. -
Date: Mon, Apr 28 2008 23:21:15
So there's nothing else I can use besides Color twin and keityo?
-
Date: Tue, Apr 29 2008 00:13:30
You could use a supertip body or a roseart body. Look up Dr. ST and Dr. Ra.

Now that i have one, i managed to stab myself twice...
Is there any method to reduce the tips danger without affecting much the pen's weight -

If you have watched Eso's review on the Dr.KT, you can always saw the sharp point of the tip off.
It will affect the momentum by A LITTLE, but you won't notice it. -

(Quote but I don't know how) "Oh... do you think a Bonkura KT would be perferable for a noob?" (end of the quote)
Absolutely not. A noob must start with a light, not to much good mod. See, I spin now with a Grip Aviaire, vich is pretty long (24 cm) and heavy (dunno how much) and I made recently a RSVP MX. I was just not able to spin right with the MX! When a spinner starts to spin with a heavy mod, he will be usually best beaucause heavyer is easyer. But he will not be able to spin with lighter mods! So a spinner must start with a light mod, than choose if he wants to stay all his life with a KT or be able to spin anything. -

First of all, im sorry to bump up an old thread. Creating new threads for existing topcs is strongly discouraged isnt it? o_O? Anyway
Bonkura KT - black
A pen mod based off of the Dr. KT by Bonkura with an all-black body.
Materials
2x Pentel Colortwin (black)
2x Pilot Dr. Grip (Japanese)
Construction
1.Take one Colortwin marker and remove the caps and marker tips from both ends.
2.Remove the back plug and remove everything inside the marker body.
3.Replace the larger cap and place another larger cap on the back of the body.
4.Cut the Dr. Grip grips into two sections as long as you want, some of the grip will overal the caps.
5.Shove a Dr. Grip tip onto the end of each cap, the extra bits of grip will overlap the tip.
I want to clarify some things on step 1 and 2.
Remove marker tips from both ends. So im suppose to like, use a plyer and pull them out?
Remove back plug. Which one is the back plug? The blue arrow or green arrow ?
Assuming the back plug is the one the blue arrow is pointing, after taking out the ink tube, do i put the back plug back?
Thank you in advance -

Yes, you use a plyer and you pull them out.
The back plug in your picture is the blue arrow, once you remove it, go to a trashcan and dump the inktubes into the trash. Make sure you rinse out the barrel the put the backplug back onto the colortwin. -

Oh i see. So will the colourtwin cap fit on tight when capped on the backplug after the tip is removed? -

Yep, once you put it on, you'll feel a slight snap which means that the cap attached and it should stay on. -

use nail polish remover, or acetone (nail polish remover has acetone in it)
put some on a piece of cotton or something and just rub it off
dont' rub it for too long or else the barrel will be affected since the barrel is plastic itselfQUOTE (Penspinning89 @ Aug 10 2008, 01:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>sweet
