Board Comments / New topics in the pen modification section

Some sort of a restriction for new topics?

There's obviously been more and more newcomers to penspinning, posting tutorials for their mods that they have made, that almost no one want, almost everyone find annoying, and without posting their pens in the SOYP thread first and asking for criticism there.

I'm sure this is a nuisance for mods and admins as well, having to close down thread after thread, giving them the same rule, to post in SOYP first.

So perhaps it might make it easier for both the community and mods/admins if there was some sort of a limit for post a new topic in the thread. I propose that to post a topic freely, a member must have the status of "old timer" (or whatever was after member, I can't remember if there was anything in between). Because that will force the members who are doing this who are labeled as newcomers (or members with just, say, 25 posts) to become accustomed to how the board is run first.
And if a member, did post the pen in SOYP and a tutorial for it was requested, but they still don't meet the minimum posting requirements, they could contact a mod or admin, and be allowed to make the post, temporarily.

I don't know, just my thoughts. I haven't seen this kind of posting going on as much recently as say a month ago, but I don't visit the pen modifications section as much as I did. tongue.gif

Sorry if this has already been brought up as an idea, or I'm just completely making a duplicate topic. I don't browse the board comments section very often.

I've noticed that more irrelevant topics keep on popping up in the Pen Modifications section, also by newcomers.

This is a good idea if this is implemented...

rversex is right... perhaps asking others first if the topic being made is worth it?

but... some people who do NOT do that will be restricted. look at me. I've posted like twice in the past (almost) two years. true, I did quit Pen spinning for like, a year and a half, but I am more of a reader: I read all the rules and the tutorials and stuff, but do NOT post unless it's either urgent or I want to show something off tongue.gif . Besides, it would kind of "tell" people to start posting more, and that may clutter up threads with useless trash, like "YAY" or too many "great jobs" or something...

    ...

thats why we have the dual approved/pending sections

if you don't want to read spam, stay away from the pending section.

I see your point, that's why I suggested that a member who actually was posting correctly, or wanted to post correctly rather, could contact a mod or admin, and be allowed to post after they explained their dilemma.

I would, but I see tutorials popping up on the main pen modifications section, not just in the tutorials pending approval.

Perhaps a little bit larger emphasis on letting the new comers know where to post?

I don't know, just my thoughts on the matter.

    uhhh no...

look at the first page of the pen mods section, there's no tutorials...

if there were they would be moved to the pending section and you can see that none have been moved recently...
