Mechanical Pencil Dr KT

Hey, a few people requested that I make a tutorial on how I made my MPKT so I decided why not? The last time I made a tutorial though (a long long long time ago), I got the shit flamed out of me, so I'm a little scared, but I think i learned from my mistakes xD

    Stats
    -------------------------------------------------
Name MPKT (Mechanical Pencil Dr KT)
COG: 1 mm towards the front (The front being the part where the lead comes out) It is not noticeable at all and should not affect your spinning
    Length: Same as KT
Weight: A tiny bit heavier (because of MP mechanism)
    Style: Symmetrical
    Writing-Mechanism: Mechanical Pencil
    Ink-Type: N/A
Estimated-Cost: 10 cents more than a normal KT

(It might seem like the lead only advances once every few clicks, but that's not the case. Lead comes out every time you click, it's just that not a lot of lead advances every click so on the camera it may look like its not advancing when it actually is)
    -------------------------------------------------
    Pens Needed:

    - Dr KT
    - Dr grip MP mechanism
    - Bic round stic inktube

    Tools needed:

    - Drill
    - Sandpaper/file etc.

    -------------------------------------------------

    Tutorial:

    Spoiler:

    1. Gather the parts that you need

    2. a. Drill a hole into one of the KT caps big enough so that the inktube can slide through undisturbed
    b. File down the nub of the KT cap that you drilled a hole into so that it is not protruding out of the top anymore
    c. Cut and drill holes of similar size to the KT cap on the KT body

    3. File down the part indicated in the picture on the Dr grip MP mech. until it is flush with the lead tube

    4. Take apart the Bic round stic inktube, wash out all the ink and cut the inktube to 6.3 cm (might need a little bit of adjusting at the end)

    5. Tape the cut bic round stic inktube onto the dr grip mech tube, it should be around 17 cm. MAKE SURE ITS STURDY.

    6. Assemble the front cap onto the body

    7. Stick the 'head' of the bic round stic inktube into the KT cap. It should fit in very snugly. Push it in all the way.

    8. Tape the KT body where indicated to reduce rattling. Use trial and error to find the right amount of tape.

    9. Put the cap on and you're done! The Bic inktube should go into the piece that was stuck into the KT cap.

    -------------------------------------------------

If made correctly, the pen should be very stable and durable. there should be no rattling and it should still be as good as new even if you threw it around "Tek style" tongue.gif.

If there are any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

And if you have any constructive criticism, please share, but please keep the flaming to a minimum xD

Ahah, yeah I think there is, but I think you have to take off the cap to advance the lead in that one.

and clear body isn't exactly a normal KT ahah.

pretty cool...similar to how i made my MP dr.KT a long time ago...but slightly different as well. The way i made mine i can use the same method on dr.KT, dr.CT and my clear body dr.KT biggrin.gif

Ahah thanks biggrin.gif that really means a lot.

I based how I made it off your and tek's videos, so it should be a little similar.

I'm using a Dr CT in the tutorial so it works with both as well. I'm not sure about clear body, but I'm pretty sure it would still work xD

it's def better than my clear body one, cause it uses the dr. grip mechanism, instead of a whole other pen. GJ clap.gif

looks very nice, but my tips have "caved in"
is there anyway this can be carried over to a metallic comssa?

    Ahah thanks! biggrin.gif

Yeah, I remember looking through your tutorial and wondering if I should try it or not, but buying the extra pen discouraged me a lot. the KT's already expensive enough haha.

    Yeah, that sucks xD
I don't think this method can be used on a metallic comssa considering HGG tips are pen tips and not MP tips, so you wouldnt be able to use a Dr grip MP mech. but I think the using the bic inktube part could work, you'd just have to find a good MP mechanism. I'd suggest using the one dori used for his MP namae mod

    Looks nice! thumb.gif

I have to make this sometime. biggrin.gif

Although since the Dr. KT requires two Dr. Grips, you can use a second Dr. Grip lead tube instead of a BIC inktube right?

No, you need the bic inktube for the 'head' piece of the inktube (look at step 7) This piece is what connects the cap to the pen so you need it.

thanks guy, its really ncie to hear that.

    @ kool spinz

the bic inktube is necessary for the MP KT. It's what keeps one of the caps on xD
