Pen Modifications / grip in cap problem

Okay heres the problem, so far i have put a put a whole fake anyball grip except for 1 sector into a Supergel cap and i'm trying to re-make a lakubo mmx. When ever i try to put the cap onto the back of the lakubo, the grip inside either pushes the grip further back and makes folds with the grip or it just makes folds with the grip. I have tried just pushing the pen into the cap (without twisting) but that just pushes it back. I used olive oil to help get the grip in, i'm not sure if thats the problem. Does this ever happen to people who are making rsvp mx's or other mods and any suggestions on how to get the pen attached to the cap?

It is a possibility that the oil is keeping the grip very slippery. The only thing I can think of is to put tape over the back of the pen so the cap stays on that part instead of relying on the grip.

Take the grip out, make it shorter, put it back in. Alternativly, use a new cap also.

Uh, dont use oil to get the grip in...oil will keep the grip slippery and it will continue to move around.

Spit is also a horrible choice. I dont want random mouth bacteria in my cap.

It's not like you look in the cap often for bacteria..

Bacteria can smell bad....i dont want my pen mod to smell like ass -__-

Spit is a terrible way to get a grip inside a cap.

Yet... I have always, only, used spit to lube up my grips and have had no problems. No smells either. Just use some mouth wash before pen modding if your mouth is that bad. rolleyes.gif

Maybe it works, i wouldnt know because i dont spit on my pens. You can get the same effect with a little bit of water instead. After hearing about this spit thing im so glad ive never traded for mods mellow.gif

WD40 can dissolve plastic/rubber....you're NEVER suppposed to use it on rubik cubes so you probably shouldn't use it on pen mods either. Maybe pen plastic isnt affected though?

Medical alcohol all the way to get grips into caps. The hardest grip to get in a cap is fucking JellerPen grip -> Super Gel cap. So impossible sad.gif

But that's not what this thread is about anyways..

Ditto, what took you guys 13 posts to mention alkeehol?!

And your problem is that the olive oil doesnt dry up and keeps it lubed, Alkeehol will dry up and the grip should stay in place.
