When you see other people spin, do you think its more appealing then seeing yourself spin?

I think it looks a lot better to see someone else spin. Of course, I don't really know anyone that can do fluid combos so all I see in real life is my own style. I remember in the Vancouver gathering everyone looked insane...

No what i mean is, how come I did the EXACT same thing as someone but theirs looks better?

Simple...you know what the trick looks like from doing it 100+ times and when they do it, the trick looks different, that's why people love original combos....they look different.

subtle differences in finger and hand movements are a vital part of style and some spinners' styles look better than others, even if they are doing the same tricks

it looks better because when i spin i think it sucks and when some1 else does the exact same thing it looks awesome.

Maybe it's the angle you're looking at.

Thats why camera angles are important.

Yup gotta agreed. Somehow other people's combo always look nicer than mine...or that I just plain suck ph34r.gif

And for some weird reason, other people's pen always feel better than mine, even though it is the same pen.

Well , just a suppose ... when you see someone's girlfriend , do you think that girl is more beautiful than your girlfriend ? xD

Exactly the same way to think about mellow.gif ...

my answer ( just IMO ) is YES other people spinning look more appealing than mine , maybe its because I see my own spinning everyday or maybe because their spinning are better than mine.

    lol

    it does effect...the spinning....

but to me, i think it's the smoothness.
for certain people, they master a trick so perfectly until it's so smooth like it's floating on the hand.
the second thing is...we use our own spinning pattern.
The way the pen spin, the way it moves from finger slot to slot, the smoothness. it all affects the combo...
for me, I see its more appealing to see someone spin then seeing yourself spin

sometimes i do tricks in front of a mirror to see how it looks like from others' point of view smile.gif
It looks better than when i'm actually watching myself do them!

Whenever i do (COMBO A), it looks so boring

But when i do (COMBO A) in a mirror, or with any reflective surface, it looks cooler

    i dont know why... mellow.gif

I think from another person's point of view, they would see that the combo looks sort of different, since they are so used to seeing and being the one who actually can control the pen, but by being someone who is watching the combo you have no control over the pen and it seems different. Also people may have different shape in their hands so it can also affect the appearance.

I was in front of the mirror one day spinning to see how I looked when spinning ( mellow.gif ), I usually think of the person watching as sitting across from me. So my normal spinning position would be facing the back of my hand to the viewer, and spinning normally. I then noticed that the appearance of my noobish pen spinning looked different from my point of view, which is my palm, so I turned my hand so the palm faced the mirror and did the only combo I know... The result: a "seemingly" different combo.

Therefore, I think that if depending on where the viewer is watching, the combo may look different: if a person is in front of you, they see some parts of the pen being covered by the hand, while someone behind you would see the uncovered parts covered. cool.gif
