Philosophy / Chance of losing/unlearning trick?

Ok, i haven't mastered the fundamentals yet but, if i learn charge reverse will it affect my normal charge?

(Like a month ago i keep on doing sonic 23-12 and i couldn't do charge 23 anymore, each time i tried it makes a sonic -.-; finally learned it back)

    my advice to you is:

    - completely master charge 23 or w/e first. COMPLETELY. so you can do it while you sleep. then move on to rev charge 23 or w/e. during the time you try to learn rev charge take occasional 'breaks' and practice normal charge.

I don't think I've ever unlearned a trick. If I don't do something in a long time, I can't do it as well, but I can still do it.

And I suggest getting proficient at all charges in all slots and their reverses. It'll be useful for future tricks.

i think sometimes learning certain tricks makes it hard for you to do other tricks after that.

I think that is honestly BS. Muscle memory will be different for each individual trick. Well maybe it differs from individual to individual...

What you're talking about is not unlearning but trick interference. With enough practice you can overcome this interference that inhibits the mastery of certain tricks. Otherwise, nobody would be able to perform two different tricks that have a similar motion (e.g. sonic and charge). It's sort of like overriding a habit.

I had similar problems learning sonic 34-12 it stopped my sonic 34-23 for a while, but I think this only happens to new spinners and can be overcom with a bit of practice, I would suggest mastering one before moving on

So far, non has happened to me though, except some wacked muscle memory.

I kept doing Twisted Sonic 23-12 when I wanted to do Sonic 23-12 after I learned Twisted Sonic.

well its happened to me not in pen spinning but in other things such as dancing.. basically where i couldnt do the things i could b4.. later i could do em again and it was basically just me creating my own style.. i cant say its the same for ps'ing nd thats cuz it hasnt happened to me yet but i think it could be true

it happens to me every now and then.
i recentlly had to relearn fingerless TA cuz i never use it. i could still do it but failed more offen than succeedecd. it doesn't take nearly as long to learn the second time though

i think the probelm is caused when u hands suits the trick.......but then u learn reverse so it needs to take time to suit it to (i think so) happy.gif

with charge its not really the case, its just when learning to do charge rev, u will do charge instead, when u've learnt it, you won't unlearn it,

if its cont. tricks like multiple busts, or fl ta, you have to practice constantly.

btw. before i could do fl ta 7 times, but now since i started practicing busts, my fl ta goes down to ojnly 4. it depends how much you practice really

it's unlikely you'll fully unlearn a trick, it'll just get worse over time if you don't practice...

Its slim, if u quit then try again youll probably get it back in a week?

for me yes , but seems like my style looks change a bit ._.

like you'll forget almost all of your mini combo and need to find and practice them again

it doesn't have side effect to your learned tricks at all

i think it was a small chances , because when u learn a trick it's will recorded on ur hand rolleyes.gif

as long as you practice a variety of tricks regularly, you won't forget anything. tricks will usually come back to you after a few tries anyway happy.gif

for me, when I first learned the twisted sonic, I could not do the sonic anymore at all, it's fine now but maybe learning somethings screws up the way your brain thinks about how another trick is done.

ive had that happen before (i think it was my sonic and charge, although it was pretty easy to regain it since the tricks easy)

i just seem to forget the finger movement and im like "wtf" and then after couple minutes of thinking, then i got it.

i have the same experience... about a month ago a could do 3 busts consistently, 4 by luck. then i tried to practice making 3-4 continuous ta's. I succeded in the ta's but when i tried to go back to my busts, i found out that i couldnt do 3 anymore...sucks right?

im working on it now, i can still do 2 consistently, 3 by luck... my advice is whenever your trying to learn/improve a trick, it doesnt mean that's the only thing your gonna practice. you have to maintain your other tricks, links and combos...well thats pretty much it.

it happens a lot to new spinner
but eventually, you'll learn the trick again

well for me if i stop doing a particular trick for a long while i will kinda 'lose' my touch on tat trick but a few rounds of practice will help me 'learn' back the trick biggrin.gif

It wouldn't be unlearning or forgetting a trick. It's just in your head. If you think it will mess you up, it just may. Practice is the best thing for you. For charge and charge reverse, just keep switching between the two until you feel you can do it anytime without forgetting one or the other.

if ive only landed a trick a few times.. i consider it learning the trick. if i stop practicing that particular trick i eventually forget it and in my case for multiple ta rev i lost it lol.

to me mastery over a trick is what i have over the basics and a few of the more advanced moves. thats being able to do the trick without dropping or a very high rate of success.

the only reason i improve is because i spin in class

one time my math teacher told me to stop spinning because it makes her dizzy
