Regular Pen Discussion / plastic tips.

I was at the dollar store and got some cheap gel pens (7 for a dollar). They weren't really for spinning but I noticed that they had a signo like tip, only plastic after buying them. How do you think putting some sticky tack or modelling clay inside the plastic tip and subsituting it for the metal tip would work? If it doesn't work, no worries, they're fully functional pens.
At any rate, I will try it.
I refuse to pay money for just a tip at this point. It's not the price, but more so the principle.
Oh, and I also snagged 24 cartoon pencils (asian) for a dollar to use some for double erasered pencils. That was def. worth it. -

If it works for you, then it's all good.

Yep. I just gotta find some sticky tack first. -

Yuck, plastic tips? I hate using tips in general as I spin a commsa. I find that one good drop on the tip and it puts so much pressure on the pen it becomes likely to snap or shatter. A tip made of plastic would probably only make that worse. If you put clay inside then it might be a little better but who knows?

Teflon tape under the tip cushions it -

I only spin tipped pens, and only one of them has only broken on me. And that was because someone ran it over with a bike. : |. I have MXs, Metallic comssas, Grip Aviares, etc etc. Dropping on the tip usually doesn't do anything to harm the pen. I've dropped mine hundreds of times, no damage.
As for the sticky-tack question, it would definitely work. The tips just won't look as good after a while, due to the metallic paint wearing off . -

I agree with cyber penguin, I think that dropping the pen a number of times might make cracks or even make the tip shatter.
Plus metal tips would probably add more weight (even if you do add some sticky tack on the inside of the plastic one).
