Here are a couple of terms to get you on the way.
Sightread: This means you did a song on your first try. Because you don't know the steps, you will have to just try your hardest without knowing what will come up.
Song Grade: The letter you get with your score depends on how well you did on the song. These grades range from E [failed], to AAAA [all marvelous]. Here is a handy tool to calculate your dance points, which determine your grade. Here is the list of the percentages you need for each rank.
E: Fail
D: <40%
C: >40%
B: >65%
A: >80%
AA: >93%
AAA: 100% [All Marvelous or Perfect]
AAAA: 100% [All Marvelous]
Full Combo: This means that you cleared the song without any combo breaker, which would mean no Goods, Boos or Misses. Here is an example of a Full Combo, also knows as a FC.
Single Digit Greats: This means that you have 9 or less Greats on a song, usually together with a full combo. This is a good feat on itself, meaning you are close to AAA'ing the song. Variations to this exist, like Double Digit Perfect, Single Digit Perfect, or Single Digit Combo Breakers. They are abbreviated simply, with SDG, DDP, SDP, SDCB, etcetera. A score with only 1 great is called a blackflag.
Marvelous Accuracy/Attack: This is the accuracy to which you hit Marvelouses in comparison to other things, like perfects. The greater the ratio, the better. People usually say that when you have a great MA, your accuracy is really good. PA also exists, which is the same, but then with Perfects.
Patterns:
Streams: A constant string of notes, usually 16th. Example.
Trills: A repeating pattern of 2 different arrows, like left right left right left right etc. Usually hard to combo with one hand, like up right and down left.
Jack-Hammers/Jacks: The same note after each other quickly, like down down down down down etc. Really hard to combo when they're fast, and usually the cause of failing songs.
Jumps: Two arrows at the same time. Example.
Jumpstream: A mix of jumps and streams. Example
If there are any questions regarding terms, please ask. Credits partly go to the stlunatic0124, of which I got the pictures of the patterns.
