Advanced Tricks / Overrated/Underrated Tricks or Combos

    I was thinking about the popularity of tricks one day and kinda classified some tricks. Imo, the bakfall is an overrated combo. I can't think of anything underrated right now but I'll get back to it.

    Post here to discuss about tricks that are overrated or underrated.

    Bakfall has become more of a benchmark in penspinning progress due to popularity rather than an overrated trick.

    A good palmspin is underrated though in my opinion.

    Underrated -
    Most air tricks, especially awesome ones like Levitators and Snap Flips.
    Basketball Spin and its reverse and for that matter, any spins on the fingers.
    Arounds that go around more than one finger
    BakTaps and PalmTaps
    Tricks involving use of something else other than the hand, weather it be another part of the body or the environment
    Fingerless spin tricks
    Windshield Wiper (especially the reverse)

    aerials seem to be overrated if anything

    imo,
    underrated = style
    overrated = individual tricks

    i know this is missing the OPs point but i could happily watch a vid with great style and easy tricks but wouldn't be interested in amazing tricks done badly.

    Overrated:

    TA releases
    Bakfall
    Superfast Around Combo's(SuperKorean style, no offense to anybody just an IMO)

    Underrated:

    Palmspins/Inverse Palmspins
    Rev Demons Sonic(Angel sonic in FPSB naming system)
    Counter-Tricks
    Fingerpasses
    Baktaps/Fulltaps

    Most of the "underrated" tricks people are listing are more "rare" than "underrated" mellow.gif

    underrated:
    ext. TA
    rev.bak/fl rev. IA (continuous)

    Underrated:
    Tap tricks.

    Halftap and Fulltap are almost never used.
    Triangle pass is only used by Flip and Bonkura.
    Continuous Aerial Tricks are also hardly used.


    Overrated:
    Arounds.
    Shadows(not really, but used quite alot).

    I don't think Halftaps and Fulltaps are so underrated as they used to be. Look for some japanese spinners, pretty often someone does TA -> FL Halftap Rev -> FL TA
