Basically the reponses in these threads are becoming annoying and unnecessary you can see here:QUOTE (BlacknWhite @ Feb 12 2009, 05:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Ohh yea... time to flame this noob...
PLZ READ THE TUTORIAL GUIDELINES BEFORE POSTING A TUTORIAL!!! Hmm... i guess thats it.. Oh yea, one more thing, PLZ POST YOUR PEN ON SOYP FIRST BEFORE MAKING A TUT!!! Hope that helps. CheersQUOTE (Kuma♥ @ Feb 12 2009, 04:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>1. Hmm lets see commercial pen BAD
2. needs common pens no pics BAD
3. errm bad tut so far not requested
4. Wtf SOYP how hard can it be to look at other tuts or topics and see that SOYP first !
5. Don't go combining tuts or 2 versions like that night something guy
I have to admit the new noob mods are worst than ever... even that "noob lakubo" mod was better, even though it was just a double capped lakubo.
BTW ur tut is extremely immature considering you put a bunch of random letters at the end and CRAPPIEST NAME EVER for the mods
I think posts like these should be considered the new "ib4l" and have a stricter enfocrement, it is the untapped flame in UPSB, I mean mods care more about flame in the spammers bin rather than in "tutorials pending approval" . I also think heavy offenders should be considered for a ban, or at least a suspension. I think that's it. -

hmm yea
now that we have "pending approval" section, ppl have no right to complain about poor tutorials, because by entering the pending approval section, they have agreed to subject themselves to bad tutorials.
however it is still, of course, acceptable to give constructive criticism to the ppl on how to improve their tutorial if they want to make it into the aprpoved section. -

Don't get me wrong I'm all for constructive criticism, I'm just talking about the way uncalled for comments like I've provided above. -

I wasn't talking to you... just in general

I apologize that I'm going off topic but comments such as this one:QUOTE (Sakura @ Feb 12 2009, 04:16 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>Rofl, just go to hell
should result in a ban, or at least a warning if a ban is too harsh. I've seen Sakura's (yes, this is directly towards Sakura) rude posts in the member introduction section be deleted by mods. I don't think he should go ignored, as he has done this MANY times. -

Determining whether a post contains flaming is not always clear-cut. Two different people can look at the same post and come to completely different conclusions. The posts you quoted are an example of this.
I look at them and see constructive criticism that is conveyed using stronger language than necessary. It seems to me that the quoted members are angry with sub-par modifications and frustrated with newcomers in general posting tutorials without first reading guidelines.
Someone else might view the posts as an unapologetic, thinly veiled attack against the creator of the mod.
When flaming lies in the so-called "gray area", the mods are forced to play it by ear. The best thing you can do in this case is to report the post and have the mods look into it. If mods start deleting every questionable post, people are going to complain that their opinions are being silenced. -

So then how do you see things like I have quoted above?

No
all tutorials should go to pending approval.
its not a matter of wad u think. its a matter of how the mods receive iti think

ok thanks, when it is approved by the mods then they'll move it to the approve tutorial or im the one who will re post there?
-
Date: Fri, Feb 20 2009 01:30:19
when a tut is approved, they will move it for you.
I think the spamming originates from the number of people who come in to UPSB, think they've made some revolutionary mod, post it without doing any research. Because of this, I think we need more moderation of the 'tutorials pending approval' section, but we also need to make the guidelines to making a new tutorial more... Obvious. I know it's stickied and everything, but maybe some people need to see it right in front of their face before they post. Especially if they're a somewhat new member. -

This isn't about the tutorials themselves if you actually read the thread... it's about the uncalled for comments that follow them. -

I'm just trying to find a reason for the 'tutorials pending approval' section to seem like such a dangerous place for new people to post. People here on UPSB generally seem to be nice, but when there's a bad tutorial in the section, everyone goes into flame mode! -
Date: Fri, Feb 20 2009 22:33:30
I agree with this, it discourages people to present ideas, everyone was a noob at one point, and people will make better mods/ tutorials with out being flamed as time passes. It doesn't matter where they are getting flammed its immature and uncalled for. Mods should be able to judge objectively what is considered flaming, and warn the person who posted it.

good call
the old tutorial guide thread was deleted because a revised version was created. I've updated the guideline to point to new thread + moved it to the correct section in red -

Well, I think there isn't a need to put the member's name on your examples(quotes) at your first post.
On-Topic: I think Flaming's everywhere, maybe more on the "Tutorials Pending Approval", but how do you actually consider someone a "heavy offender"? Like flaming all the threads on the 1st page of "Tutorials Pending Approval" section or what? -
Date: Sat, May 16 2009 15:04:20
that's quite an old thread
the infamous flamer discussed in this thread is already banned.
