Fundamental Tricks / Fingerpass Reverse Thread

Hi, I got a question about fingerpass reverse. I'm rather new to penspinning, but I've been doing the reverse fingerpass for a few years.
So I've started to learn other fundamental tricks and thought I could try pick up some speed on my good old reverse fingerpass (and maybe start practicing the normal fingerpass after that )
The only problem is that I've been unable to advance for quite a while. When the pen goes from 34-23, it takes forever for my middle finger to "dive" in under the pen. I say dive because it's such a large motion.. you can even hear the skin of my middle finger rubbing against my ring finger.
Anyone got any insight on this, and hints on what I can do to improve my speed? -

put your middle finger down already after the pass rev 23-34.not just the time you do pass rev 34-23...and let the momentum of the previous pass move the pen not just your fingers...

This is the point where the most lag will occur and it takes much practice to eliminate the problem you are experiencing. Fortunately there is a technique that will allow you to rectify your troubles. Perform the fingerpass rev very slowly and when the pen is moving from 2-3 to 3-4 and you release it, move finger 2 immediately to the catch position so that when the pen swings around finger 3 it lands right into the position you need to move back to 2-3. Practice this very slowly for a long time and gradually speed up. It seems very frustrating, I know from experience, but the fingerpass and fingerpass reverse are tricks that take a long time to perform very well and are impossible to perfect as unless they are used in a combo, never technically end.

Excellent advice!! This is a problem I've been experiencing too recently. Only on my fingerpass reverse, my normal fingerpass that spot seems pretty good but I know exactly what zig is going through (coz im going through the same thing!)

Can some of you post a link to a video of you doing the reserve fingerpass, please? I am trying to speed up my reserve, but I learn better with videos. Thanks

Youtube is your friend: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...p;search=Search
At posting time, the 1st result is Eso's FingerPass Reverse tutorial and the 2nd is Eriror's FingerPass done in pretty high speed. Check them all out. -

hey
i started doing the fingerpass reverse but i was wondering if i shouldn t learn the normal one first
and can they both go evenly fast?cuzz the normal one always looks cooler and smoother... -

It doesn't matter which one you learn first. FP Rev was much easier for me and I got that one smooth before FP Nor. As long as you practice both of them, they'll both get to a decent level fairly quickly.

how can you be new if you started a few years ago? -

He's new to pen spinning as a hobby. A lot of people knew a trick or two before discovering the PS communities online.

If a TA, Charge, Sonic, and Arounds go counterclockwise, why does a FingerPass Reverse go counterclockwise?
FP = Clockwise
FP Rev = Counterclockwise
Shouldn't it be reversed? -

Normal & Reverse do not have universal directions, it just comes down to which ever direction was performed first, or assumed to have come first. Same reason why Backaround Normal goes in the opposite direction as every other Around Normal.
If you hold your hand with the palm vertical, TA goes counter-clockwise, but Charge and Sonic both go clockwise. -

I've been PenSpinning for about a week now and I've learned the ThumbAround, ThumbAround Reverse, the FingerPass and the FingerPass Reverse. But for the FingerPass Reverse I'm having trouble with passes 43-32 because my middle finger is goofing up the whole thing. Any tips or excersices would be very much apreciated. If it helps I'm using a BICtory Mod with 2 Pencil erasers in the caps and 2 Cap erasers on the ends of the caps to add weight and length.

What you wrote as Pass 43-32 should be Pass 34-23.
Hmmm...It seems that your middle finger isn't moving fast enough to intercept the pen for the pass 34-23. It's kind of hard to explain, but I'll do my best.
When you do the Pass 23-34, your middle finger is BEHIND the pen. When you get ready to pass from 34-23, your middle finger needs to be IN FRONT of the middle finger. So just practice, let your middle finger move fast enough to be in front of the pen when you do the Pass 34-23.
I'm sorry if this was hard to understand...If you want, I can post a video to show what I mean. -

Sorry I don't understand it because when I do Pass 23-34 my middle finger is in front of the pen for the finger pass reverse.

...Wait what? How does that work out?
Pic or video or detailed explanation please. -

ahm..im not really sure..but i think if you try to learn twisted sonic 34-23 it could somehow help your middle finger to move faster..
im also working on that now actually..
