Pen Modifications / Common pen mod weight in grams?

    Hi
I've just started out with pen spinning and I'm still looking for an optimal pen to begin with (RSVP and most other recommended pens impossible to find where I live). I see a lot of modding guides with weight described as "medium" or "heavy", but this says absolutely nothing to the noob about how heavy the actual pen is.

The pen I've found to be the most comfortable to use so far is a Uniball Signo that I've modded with (among other things) some added weight to balance it. Weighting a total of 13g, i find the momentum to be quite descent, however I have nothing to compare it with... so I'm unable to know if it's too heavy or light for a beginner pen.
The only other pen I've got hold of is a Pilot G-1, weighting 10 g, but I find it kind of flimsy. However some spinning guides suggest starting with lighter pens... and there we are again.

So, what is a heavy vs. light pen?
It would be wonderful if some old geezer here with a kitchen scale could give some info on the most popular pens weight biggrin.gif

Pen mod weight is much more useful than a common pen's weight.

Comssa with grips and signo tip = ~11.2 g
    rsvp MX = ~12.6 g
    dr.KT = ~17 g

...to be honest if you lurked around more you can usually figure out most pen mod weights and what category they fit into by yourself. It's what i did.

IMO, there is no such thing as a most popular weight.

the wight can range from a dr.kt, which is HEAVY to a ballsign, which is very light

however, having said that, I would recommend starting with a pencil. It isn't too light, or to heavy, and it is easy to find.

    ps. i'm not old

Thanks, that's what I meant if it wasn't clear enough, modded pens tongue.gif
I thought those common mods were a bit heavier than that. (And for the record I tried to lurk around quite a bit (at least on the forums) but was unable to find any good info on this.

Just trying to figure out what most people think is a descent weight to work with. Sure, it's very individual, but as I'm quite new I thought it would be nice to know what the "optimal weight" is (even though there is no such thing). That would then help me set a target weight for my own nonstandard mods, since, as I wrote, I can't get hold of the most common pens. Then try to vary it a bit to see what feels best.
Aaaand... a pencil? I suppose you intended to say that I should start with something that doesn't require much finger strength. But a pencil... it just flies all over the room smile.gif
I also suppose it's better to concentrate the weight in the ends.
Anyway, I think I should go look for something with a "good" weight that isn't hexagonal like my Signo unsure.gif

What are extra heave and super heave RSVP mods?

Haha, that still reminds me of my fatty rsvp MX that had the momentum of a dr.KT and weighed 23g but still looked exactly like a regular MX tongue.gif
