Philosophy / Euro & Asian pens VS. all others

Why the heck does Europe and Asia have all the good pens while we Americans get all the crappy pens? (aside from the profile, gellyroll, and RSVP)

The most pens in USA are made from china's cheap cheap plastic (except for RSVPs), all the point sizes r larger than 0.4, and most importantly, the grips/ lack of grips make the pen uncomfortable to use. angryfire.gif

*sigh* because we like cheap pens, quantity over quality. (we meaning the part of america that are not penspinners).

    pointless post...

USA has nice pens... just not pens that are good for modding/spinning. And like テoh! said, me mass produce them so the parts are cheaper.

Americans like getting more over quality, becaause, well, like you can get a pack of 10 BIC's for like a dollar. With those ten, you can go for months, and if lose one, you have more. On the other hand, you can buy an Alpha Gel, which costs like $9. With that same price, you can get 100+ BICs.

Also, if you lose your Alpha Gel, you have no more pens to switch to, since that's the only one you have. ohmy.gif

In addition, Americans don't really seem to care if cheap pen writes terribly; they just throw it out and get another one.

And I think we're going to see less and less quality pens here because of the slumping economy. sad.gif

    eh
americans (i use that tern loosely) tend to just write with whatever they have
which are usually just bics and other cheap pens
they dont really care about the looks of the pen
as long as it writes, its like w/e

asians on the other hand, they do care. so they use like good/fancy pens
    idk about europeans

whoa whoa... im an ABC and I CARE ABOUT WHAT I WRITE W/
i really need the finer tips and good color varieties, but this cheap place doesn't even have a INTERNATIONAL STORE FOR EVERY PRODUCT IN THIS SMALL WORLD!!!!!!!

oh and also... i think HGGs and metal G-3s come from Europe town dry.gif so ya, they have at least better quality pens to work with.

The people I talk to here, don't really care about the small things in life (pens). Instead, they like to focus on putting effort into bigger projects. I personally like writing with high quality pens/pencils, so maybe it's just a matter of exposure. If more people in America wrote with better pens, they no longer would be satisfied with Bic-quality ink.

im an abc and i dont care what i write with.

if pens have ink, and it can last long... i just use it. bic round stic for example, i think its a good writing pen because it is cheap as hell(like 30 for 3$ or something)

it's a high inconveniece for spinners to mod pens here in americca, but if it's just to wite and such, we've got some pretty good pens.
i mean just look at the G2. and the bic pens, they all write well.

G-2s aren't fine enough for meh

i really like writing w/ point 0.5 or smaller. G-3s (0.38 point) and regular signos from Japan (0.28 point) are my favorite pens to write with so far...
I have yet to try out signo bits too (0.18 point)

Yet AMERICA STILL DOESN'T MAKE AN INTERNATIONAL STORE FOR ALL THE PRODUCTS IN THE WORLD!!!! bangHead.gif

If that happened, then tons and tons of businesses would die, and even more jobs in our failing economy would be lost.

BOB SAGET!!! THEN LET IT HAPPEN!!! @ LEAST I'LL GET THE PENS I WANT!!! yo.gif

edit: also that "failing economy" sh1t may make asia the most powerful exporter/ manufacturer. look @ the stuff they have; hi-quality plastic, hi-quality metal (also in samurai swords), and all these other great stuff they make (airsoft guns, cars, PENS, and some of their manga)

yea, a lot of people/friends in my school always say why I buy such "expensive" pens
    but also my relatives

this thread reminds me of a kid in my class that said
"Don't break it, that is the first 3$ pencil I've had" sleep(1).gif
(it wasn't me who was about to break it tongue.gif)

simple, Americains are all into value, basically how much you get with your dollar.

like buy one get one free and all the credits you can get, followed by the quantity: cheap and alot is basically what I see when I go there during my holidays.

So basically they want a dollar for 5pens etc... then if you want that, the pen can't be of high quality else the production cost would be high and they can't sell at that price, an HGG costs like 2$... doubt it would sell well in America if you can get like 10bics for the same price.

    There is your answer.

I have noticed with my friends/classmates, that the asian ones have pen cases and keep only 2-3 pens and 2-3 pencils, and a lot of lead. Also, those pen(cils) are usually higher quality and expensive (my friend has a sparkly-gripped blue airfit pencil...I envy her...)
and the american people all use what they can get. A lot of them either have no writing utensils at all, have one pen someone gave them, or have about 20 pen(cils) with them. Usually they are all cheap like wood pencils and bics.

im gng to list out a list of my personal preference for pens here. (asian here btw)
generally for me, gel ink > ballpoint ink,
    for gel ink,
    ink must be a 0.7-1.0
0.5 gel ink is way too fine for me.
prefer g3 ink and g2 ink. Neogel isnt that bad though.

gel ink is used for every subject other than chinese.

For chinese, i use ballpoint ink , prefer laknock and lakubo ink. ink cannot be 1.0 or more . it has to be fine, around 0.5-0.7.
the pen must at least look nice and write nice (i dont like bic ink >.>)
i also dont really like RSVP med ink. RSVP fine is nice for writing though.

Maybe america doesn't have nice pens because most of the work is done on computers these days. Countries like USA are leading in such trends. Also USA doesn't care about such small things and they try to provide the best quality at the cheapest price.

Japan is filled more with traditions and religions. Also its main aim is to discover new techniques for which they have to produce awesome pens.
