Pen Modifications / Good beginner's Pen?

    I'm and absolute beginner at penspinning (read: can't do anything at all), and I was wondering what would be a good pen to start with? I keep hearing that a heavier pen is better to start with, but just so I can make sure I'm getting the perfect pen for my hand size, here's my measurements:

    Index = 7.1cm
    Middle = 8.0cm
    Ring = 7.3cm
    Little = 6.2cm
    Thumb = 6.0cm
    Palm = 8.5cm(w) X ~10cm(h)

    Please bear in mind that I live in the US, and have very little money, so please limit suggestions to mods that are easy to get parts for in the US, specifically Michigan.

    Thanks in advance!

    i would recommend a pencil, heavier is easy when you are doing advanced trick, but will cause problems with learning if you use them to soon

    Hm, so just a regular pencil, no mods?

    i.e. Ticonderoga, etc.

    I started with a pencil. Then upgraded to a pencil with rubber bands at the end of it. Start with a pencil.

    yeah a normal pencil, at least when you getting the fundamentals down, then moving onto a MX after you get those done, by then you'll know enough you won't need advice on what to spin
