    What do you think?

    Could it help like doodling?

I think it does, becuase I seem to doze off less when I am tired when I spin
But then again, I could be a distraction...

if the main idea is to stop daydreaming, then yes pen spinning will prevent daydream, but if you're really focusing on learning a new trick or something then it won't help, if its just random freestyle then OK.

It stops you from sleeping in class.

it may not prevent you from daydreaming cause sometimes you tend to think of PS related stuff.. like WT and bonkura etc..

If you're trying to learn a new trick in class, that's worse.

sImple freestyle maybe.. but try to avoid it.

Maybe just some simple harmonics like TA, sonic etc.

I don't think it does help in class at all. Even if you are just freestyling, I'm sure that paying more attention would help. If you intention is only to mindlessly freestyle too, you might find yourself soon practicing new tricks and such. The pen dropping a lot probably doesn't help those around you in class either...

When I am spinning in class, time passes faster, but I only do it if the teacher is not talking or we are waiting long time on class

Well I write with my left but I spin with my right. So in that case whenever my teacher tells us to take notes or whatever I spin with my right and write with my left but I get easily distracted with spinning

I have conditioned myself into, that I can't concentrate in class (or watch tv or surf the web) without having something to spin in my hands. I get totally restless then without. Takes me weeks without penspinning to stop it. So I will say it definitely helps me. I have never had problems with concentrating on what the teacher is saying, while praticing a new trick, it is like two totally different parts of one's brain. As long as I keep the spinning over my lap or a pad, to keep the noise from dropping the pen to a minimum. Although I could see how it could bring some problems, if you are the type of person who like to take lots of notes. Notes has never really been my thing.

It distracts me a lot. Makes me think of Bonkura and all the tricks that i should learn next. Never do it when your teacher is teaching something important.

Sometimes it makes me sleep and sometimes keeps me awake.

Never practice a new trick. Your concentration will be learning only.

Actually the teacher stops you from sleeping. And pen spinning in class may help you to communicate better, at least someone will notice you.

I usually PS in class because for one, it keeps me awake, and second, i feel like it actually helps me concentrate. I usually just do basics such as TA or sonics.

i find that pen spinning helps me think
especially with short stories/essay ideas, it helps me think
actually, it just helps me take my mind off things for a bit, and then try and tackle it again
i get restless when i'm not spinning something
i dont tend to practice new tricks in school/class
unless it needs repitition, in which case, i try to do it subconciesly

lol whenever i pick up a pen i just spin without even knowing.

say, I'm in my AP music theory class and we're going through a lesson. I'd be doing simple freestyles subconsciously.

I don't know, I guess it helps me concentrate, or else id be fidgeting left and right.

I've never felt the need to spin in order to concentrate... If the teacher is just talking about things which aren't highly important, you know, explaining stuff I already understood I spin more seriously.... or just random freestyles~
In an important lesson (for me at least) like math I tend to just put the mod in my pocket or bag, and not spin, so I could concentrate more...
so dunno, I guess I'm quite the opposite of people here~

It Certainly Helps!!! Whenever I Feel Like Sleeping, I Spin..*Da-Da! Widely Fully Awake But After Few Minutes Teacher Would Scold Me And Say That I Am A Distraction LOL

I spin my pen sub consciously when im in class. So the good thing about this is.....

Do something like a /facepalm with ur non-spinning hand, in such a way that ur eyes are not being seen by the teachers

Spinnig hand picks up a pen and spin

U can den sleep openly in class. XD

Teachers usually thought im thinking about the problems in textbooks as spinning of pens indicates that im "awake", when im actually not. XD
