Board Help / member status under avatar [question]

Lately I've taken notice to the title everyone has under their avatar. It usually says things like 'new member', 'member', or 'Old timer'. I figured old timers where people who have been on UPSB for a really long time. I did a little more digging though, and realized that I'm considered an old timer, even though I've only spent about 4 months on UPSB, when people with lower member numbers are still called 'member'. Can someone explain how this works? I also see people with things like "Ps-addict". Can someone tell me how to change it to a custom message?

but i think you already now that XD
but i think it sucks cus maby dont want to post or something and then they are 4 years on upsb and still they are newcomers -.- -
