Naming Committee / [project][5.19] Extending xPxH

So far we've always used xPxH as a convenient way to indicate how many pens and how many hands are used.

You might have noticed that I made up on the fly an extension in the form of xSxPxH to indicate the number of spinners too. We need to debate the following issues:

    1. Is it necessary at all? If not, how would you notate it?

IMO, we could simply write, say, 1p3h or 1p4h, but for the case of 2 spinners with 1 hand each, there's no difference between 1p2h for one person or two. The question is then to determine whether it matters at all that 1p2h is executed by a single person or not. IMO it does, because even tough in both cases there are only 2 hands, the visual effect of having 2 spinners is different.

    2. Does the h in XsXpXh indicate the number of hands PER spinner, or hands total?

My first persion was the number of hands per spinner, but now that I think about it, I think it should be total number of hands, because it allows for more precision: i.e. 2s1p3h means one spinner has 2 hands, another 1 hand.

    3. What letter should s be?

I chose s for spinner, because p (person/people/pen spinner) is already taken.

    1) I don't think it is "necessary" but it would be an advantage to be able to accurately abbreviate it.

    2) Yeah, it should notate the number of hands total, because if one spinner used 2 and the other only used one it would get complicated. So having total number of hands sounds good.

    3) s make sense to me, since p wouldn't work because it already denotes number of pens, therefore s is the next logical letter.

This seems like a natural extension onto 2h1p idea, and its simple and effective.

Could each person not simply have a seperate section for themselves? For example:

Two spinners. One has two pens in two hands, one has one pen in one hand = 2p2h / 1p1h

Two spinners, both doing one pen in one hand = 1p1h / 1p1h

Three spinners, one doing one pen in two hands, one doing one pen in one hand and one doing two pens in one hand = 1p2h / 1p1h / 2p1h

Seems really simple to read, understand and write.

this doesnt work if a pen is being shared by several spinners.

unless you write something like 1p1h / 0p1h.

anyone wants to write this article for public release?

    should be fairly easy.

it needs to be converted to wiki format.
