The UPSB Research Department is currently recruiting new members.
Our mission is to develop the Art of Pen Spinning through cooperative effort. We seek to provide a testbed, resources and counsel for any aspiring researchers. Our common goal is to innovate Pen Spinning.
Our Research Department is seperated into several sections:
1- Tricks & Combos: This is where we discuss new trick and combo concepts.
2- Pen & Mods: This is where we put forth new ideas/concepts for modding.
3- Video, Presentation & Music: This is related to the aspect of filming and editing techniques.
4- Pen Spinning relations: Here we focus on the social and economic aspects of Pen Spinning.
5- Naming Commitee: Naming issues are debated here.
If you're interested in working in any of these sections, feel free to send me a PM.
We're looking for people that are:
- Self-motivated: able to put effort in projects and research.
- Creative: you need to be able to think of new ideas and consider aspects that have yet to be discovered.
- Active: you need to engage in discussion and propose new ideas. We regularly check for activeness and kick out inactive people.
- Mature: you need to behave yourself in order to not disrupt our research atmosphere.
When you send me a PM, you should build yourself a portofolio of achievements you've made. You also need to tell me what your interests are. Ideally, you already have ideas you want to work on and that you can describe to me.
If you are already working in a research department for some other community (such as the FPSB), you can also ask for access and I will give it to you if it's a reasonable demand. -

The UPSB RD is always interested in establishing communication with research groups from other communities. So far, we've allowed access to members from the FPSB research group (FPSB Laboratory) to our work to facilitate exchange on projects.
If your community has a research section and would like to collaborate with us, you are welcome to contact with me.
If your community does not have a research section, I encourage you to create one if your community has any potential for research. -

the Research Department is once again looking for recruits. The two posts above still stand.
Some of the hot topics right now:
- The breakdown team needs to be revived
- Tricks & combos is always looking for more. Right now a lot of theoretical work is being done, if that's interesting to you, you should join.
- The PSR section is involved in tournament structures and a global ranking ladder. We would be very interested in solving this problem.
- The VPM section has a project on music-synchronous PS (synchPS for short)
PM me to join, instructions in first post.
