UPSB v3
Naming Committee / [project][5.20] Modifier system
-
Date: Mon, Mar 16 2009 02:47:53
This is the project of developping the modifier system: an extensible, modular system for notating any possible way of holding and manipulating a pen. At its base, this amounts to notating the basic fingers and their close variants (fingers on the opposite hand, fingers on another spinner's hand).
The first topic will be to discuss the handedness notation.
The second topic will be to discuss the bracket system, a convention used to shorten the amount of notation required, which is applicable for any modifier. -

this is for modifiers in general
are you for or against optional spacing of fingers to improve readibility
i.e.CODE1*2*-23
vs
1* 2*-2 3 or 1* 2*-23
vs
1* 2* - 2 3 or 1* 2* - 23 -

2.
do you want the modifier placed before or after the finger
*1*2
vs
1*2* -

I would say before.
-

i'd say after
-

imo finger notation is more important than anything else
therefore after.
cuz you first show what's the base case, then you modify it
you can't modify something you haven't shown yet. -

that, and i think it's sort of standard
in writing and articles and such, people put stars after the word they're mentioning -

I would say after, it look neater to me

What about a pen modifier?
I think it could be useful for 2P1H tricks or combos, or for example to describe a Two Finger Twirl made with a pen and a finger.

yep pen modifier is another modifier we need, but another hard one to create
because it needs to be enumerable, and only letters and numbers are enumerable, and both are used for something else.
