Selecting a project and topic that is appropriate in scope is very important. Here's some pointers.

A project must be general enough so that may contain several topics but it is still a subset of the section it belongs to. A section is like a general idea you would like to work on.

A topic is a specific idea inside of a project which will serves a specific purpose. Once that topic is completed, it can then be used as part of the project to achieve a greater goal. In some sense, they are the smallest units of researchable material. A topic cannot be subdivided into further smaller meaningful ideas.

In case of doubt, ask your directors / project supervisors. I will also post examples of sections and topics in each Brainstorm thread.

Topics can be very small, don't be overly ambitious. Start by completing small chunks and you will slowly discover something bigger.

Projects, on the other hand, are always work-in-progress. There is basically no end to those, so don't be concerned if the scope of them are too large.
