Pen Modifications / New notations of Pen Modding

Hi ^^
So in FPSB we have created a section to improve the vocabulary of the pen modding
All of the different notation proposed by the members of FPSB aren't necessarily good, so here is the three best and interesting new notations :UnderGrip :
by Feuille and Near, part of pens
The Undergrip is the part that we get once the grip of a pen withdrawn.
The word "undergrip" was created because this part of the pen hadn't got a real name before, from now the tutorials will be more precise : " filed the undergrip ", " cut the undergrip at 1.2 from the tip ", etc.
Example of pens having an UnderGrip ( all who have a grip in fact ^^ ) :
- RSVP
- HGG
- G2
- G3
- Anyball ( the body is just used for the Any-X )
- Laknock
- etc
Pictures of Undergrips :Ruffle :
by Flash, part of pens
The Ruffle is the ring between the grip and the tip of a pen.
" Ruffle " was create because in many tutorials ( like the RSVP MMx for example ), we must often filed the transparent ring between the location of the grip and the tip of the pen. Now, just say " ruffle ", it's easier ^^.
Example of pens having a Ruffle :
- RSVP
- HGG
- Anyball
- G3
- Lakubo
- etc
Pictures of Ruffles :Folded clip :
by Waterfall, technic of pen modding.
The Folded Clip is... a folded clip O___o.
It's not a technic very famous, but interesting. Look this video at 1:49 and you will understand what's the point.
">
Waterfall : It's not really very useful, but it makes a combo more original, or just have a mod out of the ordinary. I advise you to test with the RSVP Mx, it's pretty cool, but strange to spin XD. Actually it just provides an alternative for a combo. You can also call your mod who has a folded clip " Folded RSVP Mx " for example.
Example of a pen which the clip can be folded :
- Only the RSVP ^^, because his clip is quite flexible.
Pictures of a folded clip :So this new kind of notations aim to facilitate the international tutorials, to be more precise and not for complicating them.
You can also help us to find new notations ='). -

Those are helpful. I've always wondered what the part under the grip should be called instead of "the front"

The concept itself isn't a bad idea, but the trouble is there the naming itself isn't too terribly difficult in the first place.
The ruffle is actually called a stop. Not saying it can't have multiple names, but when you say ruffle or stop of a pen, spinners will have to look it up.
It's just more terminology for the technicals. No matter what people are going to type, File the front bump of the pen because they don't want to look up the correct terminology. In pen spinning a good general assumption is all spinners are lazy.
As for the Under-grip. Is it really necessary to rename: "Underneath the grip" to "Under-Grip" ? lowl?
Regarding the clip,
The folding clip is cool, but in the end it doesn't need a new notation. It's a spinning concept on its own which gets into it's own series of mod-specific spinning notation. That can be discussed in the general discussion or RD if we wish to pursue it further.
Not to shoot down the ideas, but just being realistic on what will most likely happen. Personally I don't really think there needs to be any more terms for modding unless there's a massive shift in pure and utter laziness. -

ruffle just sounds like rofl to me
that one will just confuse me..."where the hell is the rofl on the RSVP!!!!"
imatt's idea of stop sounds slightly better
but once the terminology becomes more well known, it would be more commonly used and therefore, no need to look it up
kinda like changing the name for sonic 1.5 to shadows
i'm pretty sure no one looks up shadow everytime its written -

@iMatt: I already posted this in the NC a while ago, the reaction was lukewarm at best... I personally think it's cool when you're textually discussing pen modding, for tutorials I supposed a terminology is good for ensuring consistency, but the pictures always help more than the text.

honestly, the folded clip is not that good for pen modding terms, but great for what imatt said,
no wonder the pinkyarounds were TOO good
