And recently I found Eso's tutorial in youtube, so that's when i started pen spinning.

As a freshman in high school my aspire, (study hall), teacher challenged me to do a thumb around. Of course I fail the first attempt but a few weeks later I've got it. Then I teach myself sonic, charge, & bak rev. Finally I decide to search for pen tricks online and come accross pentix (ucpsb forums weren't up at this time). Four years later I've mastered all the fundamentals and more than a few advanced tricks and am now practicing pretty much all day every day :-)

Well, I was a yoyoer a few years back, and there were a few penspinners on the yoyo boards. I knew that it existed, but I thought it was just what my brother and I did when we were bored (fingerpass). I never really looked deeper until my orthodontist was explaining something to my dad and started doing thumbarounds every few seconds. It totally blew my mind. I asked him how to do it and he told me to get a desk job. I went home and scoured the interwebs. I found upsbv2 which had just closed, but there was this new board (ucpsbv1) that I checked out, and got a lot of good help. Kept going, and here I am.
I have to say though, when I first saw the pen modding forum I literally laughed out loud. I was just imagining people cutting, gluing, and sanding pens, and it was just funny to me. Well, needless to say, a few weeks later, I wasn't imagining it anymore.

I found Kam's TA tutorial and learned how to do it quite quickly. Then, about a week later, when I learned UPSB V2 was closed, I went to UCPSB and signed up.

For me, it's pretty stupid. In grade 3(I am grade 8 now), I went to this office and I saw some guy doing ThumbAround Harmonic.. Da da da da da.. And I was thinking "How the fuck did he do that?" 3 years later, I went to the library with my sister. She did Thumbaround and I was like "Fuck yo, teach me" She taught me and no I can't do it at that time. So I gave up on that. When I got to grade 7, me and my friend were bored in History class so we took out a pen and I said "Do you know how to do the thing around the thumb?" And he said "Yea, my mom taught me, but I can't really get it yet." So we both started to practice Thumbaround. LALLALALA somedays later, I finally got Thumbaround about 97% of doing it each time. And then, I saw someone doing charge and I also learned charge. Then, I saw those pen spinning collabs on YouTube and decided to be as great as them. So I went to watch all Eso's videos and learned them all. So here I am, learned all the tricks that Eso taught in his videos.

It was last year that opened my eyes to spinning pens. During school, some person was doing a charge. As a layman at the time, I was thinking, "WTF?!?!" and tried to do it on the spot, but failed. xD

A few months later, after learning about Card Flourishing, and XCM, in the Superhandz website, I saw Kam and his video. This also made me go "WTF?!?!" and tried to learn off of the written tutorials in the pentrix site that was given.

A few months after that, in the the Decknique forums, a person by the name of Jonas (You guys might know him) showed us the video that changed me forever. ohmy.gif He show us Bonkura's 2nd solo video. ohmy.gif

After that, he inspired me to actually take the time to learn the tricks. I learn through Eso's tutorials (which was very helpful), and the rest is history. xD

This girl across from me in English sophomore year did nothing but spam TA during class. I was fascinated. She tried to teach me, but I got frustrated and gave up.

Then, at the beginning of this year, some kid in my Chem class was doing simple Sonic > TA combos, etc. So I was like "WOAH, CAN YOU TEACH ME?" and he was all "go 2 www.pentrix.com" and I was like "schweet!"

I found a tutorial for TA on Youtube and practiced for an hour and started to get it.

Then I found Eso's tuts and life became much simpler. I had learned a few of them (namely the Twisted Sonic and Infinity) and made a couple of MXs. I came to UPSB looking for inserts, and I eventually made an account here.

    Then it's all recent stuff.

Some time later while I was watching Death Note I noticed a part where he does sort of full taps, and thought that was a really cool way to spend time in class, so I learned by myself a crappy version of half tap. Seeing how fun it is, I searched for more...First I studied through Hantricks how to do TA, TA Rev, Fake Reverse Middle push("Flick"), and TF pressure Shadow(yeah I know, a bit of rise in difficulty >.> It was also at that point that I fell in love with the Shadow's elegant spin).
Some time later I studied through Pentix how to do a Sonic and later from Pentrix how to do Infinity, from that point I joined UCPSB and watched Eso's tutorials and so on 'till this day.

    Date: Sat, Feb 23 2008 06:32:44

Well, the first time I ever came in contact with PSing was back in highschool... around freshman year I think. I remember seeing some guy do a TA and I was intrigued by that, but I forgot all about PSing until maybe 8-9 years later. During my last year at college (5th year mellow.gif) I heard that my good friend could do a TA and that reminded me of that one guy back in highschool. So I went online and tried to find sites and came across several videos. The very first video I saw was PDS's first collab so that made my eyes pop out.

Then I tried to find some sites that taught how to do these tricks, cause that was my original intention. I came across Pentix, then Pentrix. I learned how to do the TA and Sonic in about one day and spent the next few weeks mastering them. Pretty good for a complete beginner. Once I started spinning, other people around me told me that they also knew how to do the TA.

After maybe 4 weeks or so, I tried looking for forums because I had a hunch that there would be some out there. I came across UPSB but found that it was closed so I search around some more and came across UCPSB. Been here ever since.

I first foud the Spowash's blog; penspinning.skyblog. The best pen that I found at this verry moment was a Cross luxury pen, wheighing, like, 20 grams but super-slippy and long of about 10 centimeters. Absolutely crappy. I tried the thumbaround, it didn't worked. After, I got to a papetry and I bought many RSVP's. I did verry much fingerpasses, and practicing the sonic and thumbarounds. As I tell in my presentation, I took 2 weeks to master the thumbaround, and maybe a week for the sonic. I begun combos only after 2,5 months of PSing, beacause I just don't know how to chain tricks. After passing on pentrix, I learned that a sonic can be put after a thumbaround.

Then along came WT 2007 and I saw Bonkura's 2nd round and was blown away. Just the smoothness and style gave me the push to begin spinning. I got lazy and not until October I decided to start. i saw my teacher spinning in class around early 2006(ta harmonic, but i didnt know what that was before). He thought me ta and ta rev, (still i dunno what that trick is that time) so during that time, i was just doing thumbarounds, and i didnt care about what it was called. and i dont care about PS. then i tried to search pen spinning on youtube around aug. 2007 if there really is such thing. then i saw it. the 1st video i saw was the video "What cool kids do" i was so inspired to PS because of Eriror. so thats my story...ive been PSing for 9 mos now...dont count my 2006 spinning cuz that wasnt official and i dunno whatever the heck pen spinnning was back then

I started at the beginning of this school year. This was my first year of high school. I didn't know anyone that was in my classes, and so I was watching this guy constantly do this weird circular motion with his pen. Then two days later, we sat beside each other, so I asked him what he was doing. He taught me and I could do this weird circular motion within maybe a day. Then the day after we were talking about it, and he said
"I have this friend who can do this constantly!!!"
So I looked into it using google and typing "pen tricks" and found UPSB eventually. btw this circular motion was charge tongue.gif I was soooooo noob

In Junior High, a bunch of people learned to do the charge, but I couldn't, so instead of creating the illusion of spinning, I actually learned to do the fingerpass, but with only three fingers... So, I did that for a while, adding in an infinity when I ran out of room on a pen, and kept with that for a while. In my freshman year of high school, though, I met Dr1v37h38u5 and saw him doing a bunch of tricks, which to me looked crazy. I learned to do the thumb-around and sonic from a different friend, and finally got the fingerpass down with four fingers. I then searched around youtube for videos, found Bonkura's first, and then stumbled upon the wiki for this place, and finally got into it.

I first started with Charge in about... 10th grade, not knowing of "pen spinning". I just did it because it looked cool. I did that for 3 years. Then about a month ago, I was looking up how to do "pinch harmonics" for a guitar. At the bottom of one page it was showing ways on how to strengthen your fingers. One of the ways was "spin a pen". I had to click on it. I ended up on the SuperHandz main page with Kams video. After watching that, I was HOOKED. I also learned that pen spinning is contagious and addicting (like some nightmare cigarettes). I showed a video to my sister, now she is trying to pen spin. She showed a video to my friend, now he's trying it. Pen spinning is great...

Well my first witness of pen spinning was back in 5th grade...there was this site that had all kinds of stuff on it and videos that used to be really popular...but i forgot what its called...i dunno if anyone even goes to it anymore

w/e tehy had PDS 1st collab on there (obviously i didnt kno it was called that)
and i thought that it was just something ppl did hen they were bored and they knew how to do everything because tehy figured it out cuz tehy were bored

    2 years later...

I found out that tehre was a huge community for pen spinning and even tutorials for a million tricks

i found a tutorial on how to spin a pen around your thumb..

it took me a week..taht was back in december...2007

after learning that i realized taht anything is possible through practice..see before i had heard the saying "practice makes perfect" but nothing i had done in life before got better through practice...i used to think "practice" was just something that white people encouraged tehir kids to do..

and then i realiuzed that if you practice u can do anything you plan to accomplish...so on december 26th i looked up a tut for the infinity cuz it looked crazy to me when i saw it in a video...i mastered it taht day...it was immediately my fav trick (out of the two i knew lol)
..then in jan 2008..i decided taht my goal is to become like the people in the PDS collab..

and yeah..so i rpetty much started to spin seriously in jan 2008

I'm quite ADHD, drive my parents, my wife, and her parents crazy by tapping and fidgeting. Got a thought a couple years ago about pen spinning, so I jumped online and found Pentix. Learned about RSVP v1, TA and Charge, but only looked at it for about 10 min, then got distracted and forgot about it. Just the other day, I'm shopping with my wife in Wal-Mart and lo and behold, specialized spinning pens!!!! Yep, Spinz had just hit the shelves, and I remembered my brief visit to Pentix, so I got the Zero to start learning. Learned the fundamentals that come with the Zero in, like, 2 days and decided to look for more info. Jumped on line and found UPSB and am now hooked. Made my 1st BICtory and now use it 10x more than the Zero. Zero is alright, but I can't do a charge to save my life with it. BICtory is easier but I still have a hard time. So that's me...

My friend at school did like a bazillion TA harmonics in a row and I was like "Imma learn that"
But my back hurt so much by the end of the day that I gave up for about 6 months.
Eventually I learned the fingerpass, then the TA, the Infinity, Ext. Infinity, Double Infinity, Charge, Sonic, and so on.

I was browsing on wikihow for schoolwork and stumbled across the TA page. Needless to say I had to master that trick and did so too. After that I sort of forgot about it, haha.

A few months later I went to the movies with a friend and she brought some japanese friends who were spinning pens. They were awesome, so I started pen spinning again. There were lots of stuff I was interested in back then, so I quickly forgot about pen spinning again, lol.

Just a few months ago I saw the JaPen video and got totally hooked again. Here to stay? I don't know. wink.gif

I actually FIRST saw it on G4TV about 2 or so years ago.
On a TV show called, "Attack of the Show" or "Screensavers" Cant remember which...
ANYWAYS, they always have a small segment of the show were they have a few interesting website that they show people.
and the theme for that day was websites for board people/ people in school. Low and behold, "Pentrix" was featured.
I went to learn thumbaround throught them, but never really pursued any further, not looking at any of the outside links or anything.
And then, about a year after that, i found myself board one day, scrolling through youtube, i was looking for new tricks to learn, (TA rev.)
and happened upon a few videos and a link to UCPSB, which was fairly dead @ that point. After a couple weeks, i found a link to UPSB and things grew from there. !!!

I watched almost all of his tutorials. I had seen a bunch of pens in Nate's vids that were double sided, so I decided to make my own. After 5 minutes of thinking about how to make a double sided pen, I made a bictory on my own (I thought I invented it XD)
it had a RSVP grip in the middle, and 1 on each cap. Then I became curious and went onto UPSB, that's how I ended up here.

I learned the ThumbAround back in high school but never carried on from there.
It wasn't until this year of college when I was doing the TA and my friend saw me and was like "hey you're into pen spinning?"
I didn't know what it was so we researched and found Eso's tutorials and eventually each made BICtory's and now here I am. tongue.gif

When I was around 13 or 14, my sister taught me how to do a Charge and an odd over-the-thumb-Thumbspin. A couple years later, I found this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOHhIkOAP3g&fmt=18

Then I was all "OMGWTFBBQ WIN! MUST LEARN" and went to pentrix.com to learn the fundamentals.

Then while I was trying to learn to do a thumbaround after I Googled the fundamentals and such, I realized my parents knew how to do them and they helped me out.

I went on a yoyo forum (yes I yoyo) and found a list of other skill toys. I found pen spinning, and immediately it intrigued me. Without any pre-knowledge, I typed in youtube "pen spinning" and watched some videos. Eventually, I landed on one of eso's tutorials and started learning.

was bored on the web, and i got a random thought; "I wanna learn how to spin a pencil!" so I searched how to spin a pencil on google and found this WikiHow article on how to make the pen go around your middle finger. So i learned it and scrolled down the page: a comment said "Professionally this trick is known as a Sonic" At first I lol'd that there is a "professional" name for this trick. I youtubed the trick and found a couple of tutorials which eventually led me to Kam's Pentrix video. Then i went to Pentrix which lead me to UPSB

A good friend (you should know him; Frip) returned from his trip to the usa, in summer holidays (2007?).
I met him and he showed me a few tricks and the website from GPC... after that i wanted to learn PenSpinning, too, so i started spinning^ ^

And there was a topic on another board (eTCG), i saw him post there- i didn't read it first, because i misread the title (i always read "PenisPinning", but it was "PenSpinning").
