Hello UPSB!

It is finally here! UPSB's 1st Team Tournament! We have 8 Teams participating and look forward to some great matches.

But let me explain how this will work. Each team has a maximum of 7 spinners and a minimum of 4 spinners. So a team can have up to 3 subs. It is not required to have 3 subs. You can compete with only 4 people as long as it works for you.

Let me break it down into steps or phases.

Phase One ~ Specific member sign ups.

Each team will have to send the exact members and information for the tournament. The old thread was just for an overview. Your exact line-ups will be due Friday, April 3rd.

Phase Two ~ Groups

The 8 teams will be divided up into two groups/pots with 4 teams each. During this phase each team will battle every team in their group. That makes a total of 3 matches. How these battles will be held will be explained later. The teams will gain points for winning and losing. The top TWO teams with the highest number of points will move on to the Winner's bracket. The bottom two teams will be eliminated and they have a choice of particpating in the loser's bracket.

Example:

Group one has these teams (These example names have been made up 100% randomly.):

Team punkstar
Team Kim
Team Zumbi
Team zChillfire

Let's take team Kim. During the group rounds team Kim will battle against the other 3 teams. One battle per week. Team Kim is good and beats every team except team Zumbi. Team Zumbi goes undefeated. ...Team punkstar and Team zChillfire do not matter for now..

This will give the following standings (3 and 4 may vary):

Team Zumbi 3pts. (no loss)
Team Kim 2pts. (loss to Team Zumbi)
Team zChillfire 1pt. (Loss to Team Kim and Team Zumbi)
Team punkstar (Loss to all)

[The third and 4th place could be different but that isn't important for the example.)

Resulting from that Team Zumbi and Team Kim will move on to the winner's round. There they will battle the Top 2 of the other group.
The bottom two teams (Team punkstar and Team zChillfire) move to the OPTIONAL Loser's bracket. This is to give all teams equal opportunities for having the same amount of battles total. And of course, to have fun.

That is a basic description of the group phase.. will be extended if possible.

Phase 3 ~ Winner's and Loser's Brackets/Rounds

The top two of each group move on to the Winner's bracket. In the winner's bracket the first place of Group A battles the 2nd place of group B. And vice versa. So it will be A1 v B2 and B1 v A2.
The bottom teams will move on to a loser's bracket where they can battle each other in the same manner.

The winner's of both semi-finals move on to the final where they battle for the grand prize. .. The final battle will have a different format than the other battles. ~TBA

This is basically how the tournament will look like in a nutshell.

how're things being judged? by judges or public voting? you could always use the method that you're not using for the normal judging for tiebreakers

so... if you're gonna normally use judges, use public voting as tiebreaker...and vice versa

Since it's a team tournament, out of the 4 people, 2 will make a double clip. (WC-style)
So there are 3 'battles' in one 'big battle': 1v1, 1v1, 2v2.
The final round will be different though... but I won't post that here because 1)It's supposed to be a suprise lol and 2) I have to think of it more. But just in case, it could be collab vs collab with specific theme.. theme to be announced when the time is right.
Oh. Tiebreaker. hmm. Lemme think more ._.

Yay Thanks Zombo!

So yes. JC there will be 5 Judges.. or 3. I will try to get 5 though. ( highest and lowest scores will not count) That will prevent things such as the PSH "dilemma' in the AC final.. Also it will make things more balanced.
So each judge judges the combos individually and from all the 5 judges' scores, the highest and lowest ones will not count.

As I understood:

we need to get 8 teams with 4 to 7 spinners in each one... and we have to get them until April 3rd...

well April 3rd isn't a long time for this if we didn't get any team now :/

Questions:

Will everyone be able to join in?
Am I e.g. able to create my own team with a chosen name like "DaddyJapan" (only example)
Do I have or the team leader has to choose the spinners who will battle against the others?
Is the team leader able to choose any spinners, no matter how often and whom?
Am I even able to join in?

BTW: I had almost the same idea with organising a tournament, but I wanted to organise it after WT.^^

please answer all of these.
