First of all, all of the credit goes to TEK for figuring out how to make a MP MX without cutting the body. Because of this, the mod is a lot more stable, and is overall easier to make.
So I am making this tutorial because it seems that quite a number of people want to know how to make this, and most importantly its Spring Break and I'm bored. xD
Note: I didn't have extra parts to make another, so I just took apart my original mod.
I would add basic stats here, but it is exactly the same as a normal mx.
Anyways, here are the materials you will need:
1x RSVP
1x HGG
1x Papermate Phd multi (can be subbed with papermate extend multi)
1x Dr. Grip mechanism (optional)
All measurements in the tutorial are the ones I used, they may not work for you!!
Step 1:
Remove the grip from the rsvp and the back plug and inktube as well.
Step 2:
Cut .5 centimeters from the tip of the rsvp
Step 3:
Empty out the rsvp inktube. (remove the tip, flush all the ink out) (I used a dr grip mechanism because I find emptying an inktube too messy. In addition, the lead may stick to the sides, so overall using a mechanical pencil mechanism is best.)
Step 4:
Tape the inktubes together
Step 5:
Drill a hole in the rsvp backplug so that the mechanism can move freely
Step 6:
Screw on the HGG tip to the front of the rsvp
Step 7:
Now here is the tricky part. What you want to do is to put a bunch of tape on the mechanism so that when you push down, the mechanism does not slide back. So basically wrap a bunch of tape, screw on the rsvp backplug, and push down on the tip and see if the inktube slides back. If it does, add more tape a little higher up. If you cannot screw the rsvp backplug on, take off some of the tape on the end. Here is a picture of where I taped it for reference:
P.S. thats centimeters btw
Step 8:
Put the HGG backplug on the end of the inktube. If its too loose, then add some more tape on the end. Slide the RSVP grip into the cap and put the rsvp cap on the back of the rsvp. If the rsvp cap does not line up with the rsvp backplug, cut the inktube a bit and try again.
Slide the HGG grip onto the front and you're done. =) -

do you still have to shave down the rsvp backplug?

Basically, if you don't add tape to the back part, you wont be able to write because you'll just push it in.
So the tape helps prevent that.

sure 100% easier than the other MPMXes to make!.
subbed this with a zebra clip-on multi that i found in my tutors house.
dori told me that basically any of the multi pens that had a pencil function could do this and i think he's right .
alot nicer to spin! thanks for tutorial! -

Haha yep thats true;
and if this helps: tape the front of the mp mech a bit to keep it in the rsvp barrel tighter.
By increasing the diameter of the mp mech, it resists a little more force while writing and clicking.
I found this to be quite beneficial for my v3, making it more stable.
and btw, I can trade those daiso 'double action mech's to anyone if they need some. -

You mean the hgg backplug is stuck in the rsvp cap with the rsvp grip?
Try using twizzers or thin pliers to grip it, and then twist it out.
It usually works for me.
And to make it click better, I would suggest extending the inktube out more.
Through trial and error, you can sand off or cut the extended inktube little by little until the mech works juuust right.
I hope this helps. -

[so does the bakplug get stuck in cap?
-
Date: Mon, Apr 20 2009 07:15:12
If the backplug you use is too thick, then yes it will. Then you need to sand the backplug down. However, the one I used was fairly thin, so no sanding was required.

Sub for papermate phd? -

Sub for papermate phd?
Did you even bother to read the tutorial or rest of the thread? It's the exact same as a MX, just with MP action added. Any number of multi-pens with a mechanical pencil function can sub for the Papermate PHD.
