General Discussion / Pen spinning during school tests

People usually have stress during a test, but with pen spinning, that stress can be relieved. Pen spinning relieves stress in a way that not only improves hand-eye coordination skills, it is appealing to the mind. It also stretches the fingers so you can write more without finger pain. Pen spinning can straighten out the mind by giving it a common thing to concentrate on. Smooth tricks such as a medium speed Double Charge and Infinity seem to help more then fast, rough tricks like Thumbaround Harmonic.
A pen in your hand not only writes during a test, but it can be spun to relieve stress to the point where it can increase your score. -

Yeah, I guess you have a point there, but if I may add on...
Wouldn't it be nice if these threads had a way to encourage discussion so people can post on topic easily?
Is it alright to spin to relive your own stress if you risk dropping it and distract other people from their tests?
I figure if you drop it once no big deal, but if you drop it twice you better take precautions so you won't drop again during a test
Do you spin during tests, even though it might take up much needed time to write?
I find myself doing this, all though I seldom need the entire time allotted to write tests so I might do a quick FS between questions; to keep my mind fresh.
What are your thoughts and opinions on this?
EDIT: Well Okay mabye you don't need so many questions, but you get the idea that there are lots of ways to actually stimulate a real discussion -

I was spinning during my ACT and I spin during all my tests... It 's a way for me to relax a bit and not worry so much, since nervousness causes me to forget things sometimes. I usually stop for a little while if I drop once or twice, just to not be annoying.

Sometimes during tests, I will do a bit of FS between questions, but I really do try and refrain from spinning while taking a test for several reasons...
1. I need the time, I can't spend time spinning when I can be writing
2. Dropping too much distracts others
3. If my hands get tired, I'll just stretch them a bit or crack my knuckles a bit
4. To avoid having too much fatigue while writing, I bring in a pen with a comfy grip to write with such as an alpha gel
So I find penspinning to be more of a negative activity during test taking than a positive one. -

i usually spin while thinking about hard questions or after i finish test or am checking answers....
if you don't drop it there shouldn't be any issues, unless it is "visually distracting" to some people.
or bring pen that makes little noise xD -

Well, that's the reason why penspinning is so prevalent in Japan. Their exams are tough so they spin to kinda relieve stress.

ya, i spin when i'm thinking, usually a continuous combo that i'm used to doing (which in turn makes me spam my fs's)
but psing helpsme think, and also, if i finish a test early, and i have double checked it (usually in japanese), i have something to do -

Isnt it a bit exaggerated to say that penspinning during a test, whatever test it may be, can relieve stress and fight nervousness?
I mean i did ps during tests when i was in school but i never felt relieved from the stress or even better afterwards. i was still nervous and it didnt change anything. so i think it does not apply to all people when you say ps can help you get rid of your nervousness during a test.
also i saw people spinning during tests and they seemed to be as nervous as they had been before spinning.
if you are really focused on something like a test or so i don´t think ps can help you in any way, but thats just what i think. -

I will usually spin my pen before a test, not during a test. If I spin beforehand, it stretches my fingers and calms my mind before the test, but I need all the time I can get when actually taking the test.

I just had the STAR test today. i was thinking of taking out my RSVP CX and spinning it, but decided not to.
Even if you don't drop your pen, i'd think all the movement would be distracting to the people sitting close to you... -

I do Thumbaround Harmonic unconsciously during tests.
I don't know why, but I just do it. Maybe what he says is right. -

Does anyone here don't spin during the test but just use a moded pen for good lucks? i usually use MX when i'm doing test but rarely spin them during test because i might get carried away. well, i still FS without noticing..

I think spinning can help when you hit a hard problem that doesnt make sense at first. Just take a moment, spin a bit, refocus, and take it from a new approach.

i try to avoid bring pen mods into tests because i tend to focus more on pen spinning if i do =.=""
Off topic-ish: and since i had some normal pens with clear barrels, i put inserts in them and a friend of my friend thought of cheating with them o.O
now my mind is poisoned with them ><
but no i ain't gonna do that =P -

some people tap their feet, tap their fingers on the desk, chew gum.
penspinning is my solution. -
