Is Chips harmful? Atleast when consumed in excess?

Because, I eat chips everyday. On an average, 1 in 2 hours or so (can get higher). Is this harmful to health? Should the consumption reduce? or is it generally harmful (without considering the consumption fact)?

    Are chips*

and i guess chips as in potato chips or anything fried like doritos cheetos sunchips etc?
they are harmful to your body
but if you eat them occasionally not like everyday in bagfuls
    it wont harm you directly
yes the consumption should be reduced and anything fried is generally harmful

High intake of chips(like potato chips) would generally harm your health. But it definitely isn't good to consume it excessively. Chips actually contain high levels of acrylamide which is formed when starchy foods are baked or fried at high temperatures and is considered as a cancer-causing chemical.

So yeah... don't eat too much of it(although it tastes awesome) tongue.gif

Almost every exposure that is negative to the body causes cancer at some point in someone's life. I'll post the data if requested to, but its irrelevant with that already said.

The only thing that would harm you now is if your sodium intake is too high and you do not partake in regular exercise. This could possibly lead to high blood pressure, heart problems, and a slew of other problems with your body... or, you have good genes, and it wont.

The data from previous studies suggest that you will develop problems if you eat too much sodium and do not regularly exercise, though. So, I advice cutting down on the chips, eat some fruit (it tastes better, anyway), and going outside to run when its nice.

... so much long and huge words facepalm.gif i barely kno what the subject is lol

i think the food we eat should be balanced (eg the more unhealthy things we eat, the more healthy things we should eat) so if u do happen to consume (consume = eat, right?) BAGFULS of chips, eat healthy stuff, like fruits and vegetables.

edit: on-topic: i think eating lots of chips and things is harmful to ur body because those are the things that cause bad things to ur body (such as heart attack, changes of blood pressure, as mentioned above by Joshua)

    Easy..

chips taste good. They do little good to your body. They spoil your body.

Cut down. You shouldn't even be eating it once a day. Once a week is fine.

i dont even eat chips once a month sometimes.

Taking part in exercise is good. But too much crisps will make you unhealthy and you will have problems exercising. You'll find that you run out of breath easily.

Chips has loads of oil. lots of cholesterol too.

    Just cut down.

    Once every hour is bad.

Eat them once a week. If you're that desperate for food, try salad smile.gif

Normally, lunch is around 12:00NN, and dinner is around 7:00PM, and you ought to get hungry in between, so eat snacks to fill your hunger. biggrin.gif
