Let's have a gathering that's organized in such a way where people can actually come. I've thought over locations and transportation and etc, but we need to select one and a date. Maybe have a huge all day event? So, here we go.
Date:
Tentative. July 25th, 11:00 AT KINOKUNIYA OF SAN JOSE
Transportation issues:
We have a lot of guys here who don't have transportation or parent's willing to take them anywhere. BART and CalTrain stations could work, but not for guys in the SV. So if you can drive down here in the SV, post here. Guys on the peninsula and East Bay might be able to hop along with us, depending on where we are going. If you guys need rides, post here and find someone who can take you. It is your responsibility to find a ride.
Stuff to bring:
-money for transportation, buying, and food
-cellphone
-pens
Just a heads up, but if you don't have a phone or you don't bring one, you MUST stick with someone who does. It saves me a lot of headaches. Thank you.

I can't go to the SoCal gathering. I hope I can make this one. Yeah, during summer. I can't make it July 15-22, but anytime else is fine.
I don't know any places down there but the 1st idea sounds good. -

ok i have a few spinners who can go to japantown/chinatown in SF. plus it's a great attraction area to those NorCal spinners that arent local to the bay. japantown is actually really easy to access in terms of bart and caltrain. the stations have "muni buses" that take you straight to the mall there for like fifty cents (plus transfers which are free if you keep a little slip of paper they give you)

Right now, we're looking at late July/Early August as the optimal date. Maybe right after school ends too.

Different places....I forgot which part of Oakland it was, but yes, there is one part of it that is particularly dangerous.
There was this true story where a guy opened a McDonalds in Oakland. The next day, the walls, windows, everything pretty much were riddled with bullet holes. He hires security guards. Guess what? They ditch because they get scared off by the vandal(s).
Chinatown there might be in a different place that's safer, but yeah...I don't feel like going there.

haha, there's probably no chance of that happening. these guys didnt even want to go to japantown for the first gathering i proposed. it was pretty far for me too, and nobody was able to. so yeah. it's all good though.
as for a date? no one is posting anything, probably because it's too far to see if we'll be busy that day. so i will say let's all go to japan town in san francisco on july 1st. or june 25th. two random dates from my calendar. -

Hmm, I don't do VTA or Bart though. I drive or my parents do. But I know there's the light rail downtown. Oh, and there's also this downtown taxi business that drives you around downtown san jose (I believe it was free but I'd have to double check on it). -

The closest BART goes to San Jose is Freemont. Then, you got to walk a bit down to the CALtrain station. Then, you take it to the Lawrence station in Sunnyvale. And THEN you take VTA down to wherever in San Jose. CALtrain isn't so useless after all.

Btw, I have concerns about the Great Mall. Many people want to buy pens, but the nearest decent place is 1.5 hours away (via VTA) while the good pen stores are all about 30 minutes away from each other (via VTA).
Transportation will kill quite a lot of time, so a place closer to the pen stores would probably be prefered. Anyone else share this concern.
And on a side note, where do you want to go to buy stuff?

Intinerary:
